Flight Sim comes out in two week for Series S/X, that can help take the edge off for us simmers while we wait for the sale that will never come…
Absolutely I will wait - I seldom buy games at launch. I've got a huge backlog of games across multiple systems so there's really no hurry!
This is very true Just played the wonderful ‘Control’, 18 months after it came out, for £12 and with smart delivery got it updated to X/S version when I put the disc in.
So do I. Project Cars 2 tought me a lesson I will never forget in that case. Only very few games will make me buy them on day one - TSW and esp. Rush Hour still has the potential for it as well but we will see. In the meantime most of the casual games go into Gamepass before I consider buying them...
Those $59.99 games offer much more content than tsw2 does including some of the tsw2 dlcs. You can't compare them.
On the topic of sales, TSW2 was recently on sale on the Xbox Store for $10! I should've bought it at that price and idk why I didn't. I see things go on sale periodically. If I were you I'd just keep a lookout for them when they appear. I play on a Series X, and idk, I feel like we have a good bit variety of DLC, no?
Yes - there's lots of DLC available, but it has literally been months since any of it was discounted on XBOX. Only the base games (TSW 2020, TSW2) are ever discounted. Meanwhile PC and PS users get regular DLC sales. That's the whole point of this thread!
Arosalinie: Chur - Arosa » 35% off Clinchfield Railroad: Elkhorn - Dante » 35% off Haupstrecke München - Augsburg » 40% off
And after almost a year of the release of tsw2, xbox players finally get sales. Amen Perhaps dtg was banging harder on Microsoft's door
I don’t have any of these. Do I buy the German route, which are always lovely, or Clinchfield, ‘cause freight, and the route looks awesome?
Well if your more into freight then get clinchfield. If not get hma. Just so you know there are still no layers on hma meaning that the route does have a bit of a empty feeling unfortunately
Thank you to dovetail for putting some dlc up for sale this week, picked up clinchfield and loving the f7, can't wait for a release date for rush hour.
Good to see those efforts were finally quite successful! Well done, retail team! Now if only we would know if those layers will really be included in the next gen update I would give it a go for HMA...
It's great to see dtg finally flexed a little muscle with microsoft and got some positive results in the form of a real dlc sale.
Nice! I already have two of those and I'm not that interested in Clinchfield, but the effort is appreciated. A loco sale next time would be the bee's knees
It's nice to see Arosalinie finally getting a healthy discount on Xbox. Has that route been fixed yet? I remember the timetables were impossible to complete due to short time limits. Clinchfield is definitely a route I can recommend, it looks wonderful and is extremely challenging to play.
There will be more details on this released in an article tomorrow, but glad you folk have picked up on it already.
Every Tuesday I run through the weekly Xbox deals in the morning, and I was very happy to see TSW 2 content in there, and relatively fresh releases as well! I'm waiting for the article, I do hope you managed to work something out with Microsoft and will be featured in deals more frequently. I'm sure it will help the game tremendously on the platform, both in discoverability and sales.
Many thanks DTG Protagonist and colleagues - I'm delighted to see some TSW2 DLC amongst the XBOX weekly discounts, and given that this has happened barely a week after you guys promised to request some discounts on our behalf it's clear you have honoured your promise. Better still I don't have any of these routes so will be buying all three of them later today when I'm finished at work - looking forward to trying them out!
Just to manage expectations here, these have been in progress for a while and were pretty much finalised when this thread picked up last week, so the process can't be turned over in a week. However, very glad we've been able to offer these! More info tomorrow.
I'm quite surprised there will be an article about this - hopefully not something like 'xbox support is dropped, this is the final goodbye sale'?
Perhaps DTG could sell bundles for the price of one route as a way of doing sales on Xbox. Examples of bundles could be, bundles of routes (like rush hour) or a route with all its loco DLC included in the bundle.
Well now that dtg and MS have finally sat down and ironed out there wrinkles and hammered out there dents maybe the sales floodgates will get opened more offen just to releave some of the pressure buildups.
Let’s see what they say tomorrow first. Timing seems a little..odd. Either David made Goliath kneel, or something was already in the works.
I'm guessing after 7 months of untold numbered of threads by xbox owners of this game and the fact that sales for this games dlc was a thing with tsw/tsw2020 that dtg felt they either had to do something drastic or risk losing some of there costumer base faith in them actually caring about us at all.
Looks like more sales coming soon https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/xbox-add-on-sales-now-on
Good news for all Bit odd that there having to do a few routes at a time but all good anyway. Hopefully this carries on in future
For the month of July, yes. Each week until the end of the month will have different routes on discount.
Great news, been waiting for a sale to buy a couple of routes and locos for a while now. Is this a route only sale, or will some locos also be on sale as the article seems to just mention routes?
Ok, so my eyesight is doing fine. Nice move! I am looking forward to what is coming over the next couple of weeks. This week will be full of considering if we might get the HMA layers...
This is excellent news. Having already spent almost £50 last night on the three currently discounted routes it promises to be an expensive July but I'm definitely not complaining!
Darn it! So confident was I that sales were a long distant memory, I bought the remaining routes to complete my collection the other day... Hopefully there'll be some add-on locos on sale at some point 'cos that's about all I have left to purchase! Good luck to all those snapping up the bargains, enjoy!
Most likely like dovetail have said in the past Microsoft only gave them select slots so they choose to use each week slots with different dlc, since currently there isn't any big sales going on, also it gets people interested in seeing what's next week so they'll check the site/threads more.
This weeks discounted routes until 26th July Maybe more coming soon? LGV Méditerranée: Marseille-Avignon 35% off Hauptstrecke Hamburg Lübeck 35% off Perhaps we may hopefully get the following next week. Isle of White Ryde to Shankin SEHS: London St Pancras-Faversham
I highly recommend LGV Méditerranée, it's a very good route with a brilliantly modeled train. Even though there's not much to do there (only three stops), the power switching, the really high speed and the French environment makes it one of the most unique routes in TSW 2. It's one of my favourites. Also, it's not buggy. Now, Hamburg-Lübeck seems interesting but it was released in a very bad state and I don't know if any bugs have been fixed there or not. I wouldn't have confidence to buy it.
Hamburg Lubeck is great, they fixed up all the PZB issues and it is one of my favorite routes. I bought it when it first came out but the fixes came pretty quick. And I agree I wasn't expecting LGV to be this much fun as I am having on it. All I need is IOW on sale and I'm all caught up on my collection until Rush Hour and the 313 are released.
Well well It looks like Playstation players are going to have to start from scratch if they want to play the PS5 version of TSW2 Maybe this is why they were getting so many discounts? I'm just kidding, but certainly makes you think...
Exactly. After all, one of the principal reasons TSW exists is to put train simming on console, DTG have repeatedly confirmed their commitment to last-gen (despite some PC and next-gen snobs' demands to toss them overboard) in order to maintain and potentially expand the console player base, and it would be entirely irrational then to connive at excluding half the console market.
Update for next sale item, this week seems to be cathartic circle line at $17.99 (40%) and legends of the great western $13.79 (40%) surprised such a new dlc is discounted so heavily, I hope they put some of the preserved collection on sale soon since I haven't gotten everything from tsw
Because they think it holds the game back, something which is untrue, considering they get a higher quality version thanks to their hardware. But it is very selfish of the ones who think that. Same goes for the Series X/S users who do the same.
I have seen cases where next gen users are more understanding about why last gen should be continued , having previously been in that position . Just because you have managed to get a ps5 from your local gaming store doesn’t mean you are better than anyone and other people should be forgotten about
