Hello DTG. I wanted to do this post because I would like to suggest some routes that may be good for introducing Spain into the game:

    1) Madrid commuter train (any line will be valid)
    Number of lines: 10
    -security systems:
    1) ASFA
    2) ERTMS
    3) LZB

    -driving systems
    1) manual driving
    2) automatic driving (only on line c5)

-C9 line .... the only one in the entire narrow gauge network
    plano-madrid-n.jpeg

    2) High Speed Line Madrid - Segovia guiomar

    technical characteristics of the line:
    - 68 km of Length
    - Maximum speed of 350 km / h
    - security systems: ASFA and ERTMS
    - 2 viaducts
    - Rolling stock: S114, s120, s130
    - More than 30% of the route runs in parallel with the Madrid commuter line c4

    3) Madrid - Toledo High Speed Line

    Technical characteristics
    - Line length 75Km
    - security systems: ASFA and ERTMS
    - Rolling stock: s104
    - Maximum speed 270kmh

after this ... which lines do you think are the best to introduce Spain into the game?

Would you add more lines? If so, which one?

Thanks for reading, greetings from Spain

If they want Spain and end in a Major City then the 180 km LGV Perpignan-Barcelona ERTMS ETCS Level 2 25kv 50hz. That will be abbreviated them as LGV CLR Catalonia Languedoc-Roussillon. Perpignan-Barcelona gives access to S100 being usable on LGV Méditerranée being the 08:06 Marseille Saint Charles 15:45 Madrid Atocha. While the TGV Duplex from that route can run Perpignan-Barcelona services.

That route is impossible. 180 km is too much. I would bet on something near Madrid

Avoid dedicated high speed routes, they are boring, and a poor reflection of Spanish rail with all its variation and intricacy.

Something like Madrid Principe Pio to Avila would be cool, it'd introduce Iberian gauge tracks, and combine local stopping services as well as medium distance fast services.

    Main Stations:

    Madrid Principe Pio:

    Pinar (de las Rozas):

    Avila:

    Services would be:

Cercanias C3a: Madrid Principe Pio - Santa Maria de la Alameda-Peguerinos
Cercanias C10: Pinar de las Rozas - Villalba
Both can be operated with Renfe Serie 446 (variations of which are widely used across Spanish commuter network so can be re-used for other routes in Spain):

Media Distancia 18061: Madrid Principe Pio - Alvila.
This would be operated with Renfe Serie 449:

Freight: Off the top of my head I do not think any regular freight services operate on this line, the only sidings of note belong to the Talgo factory in las Rozas (currently pumping out wide-body high speed Talgo Avrils) so I guess they do ferry stuff to and from there. If necessary Renfe's Bombardier Traxx loco could be used for these services, which is a variation of the DB Br 145/185 already in the game.

It would be a fairly long route, about 100km point to point, and then add about 30 more because it's an old conventional line so curves around the many hills and mountains rather than ploughing through them. Also it utilizes conventional Spanish signalling for which few translated explanations exist, but this flickr post explains the basics. The safety system is very similar to PZB, with magnets used to track braking in speed reduction areas and for adverse signals.

You mean Madrid Commuter rail or LAV Madrid Seville which has LZB AFB Installed. The reason to why I chose Perpignan-Barcelona was that LGV Mediterranean Line Avignon-Marsellie to or from Spain just like how they are in real life. Even LGV Mediterranean Line Aix-en-Provence gets S100 AVE service

Bilbao Cercanías C3: Bilbao Abando - Orduña, 40 km long
    Trains: EMU 446 series
Located at the north of Spain, this line has several station in very short distance.

Pictures of those commuter routes look pretty cool. I'd very likely buy such a route when available.
Not a huge fan of dedicated high speed lines though, it's the main reason I didn't buy Marseille-Avignon, despite I'd very much like a French route.

Good point but Perpignan-Barcelona Railway has freight services using 1.435m Renfe 252 locomotives and access to a Freight Yard Le Soler. Time table mode would have required you to swap them for a BB27000 BB22200 at Le Soler freight yard. The BB22200 can then continue onto Calais-Fréthun or Dollands Moor Channel tunnel Freight yard in the United Kingdom. To describe Perpignan-Barcelona Railway 180 km length and 1hr 30 duration if using TGV and AVE S100 but 1hr 30 to 2hr

I don't want to seem heavy ...... but I'll tell you again ..... a 180 km route will NEVER be done. Nowadays the maximum is 93 km and I think that hopefully we have that distance ..... I also agree with other colleagues that I would like a Madrid commuter route with trains such as 446, 450 or 465

For a good feel of Spanish railways, I recommend this youtube channel. This guys produces an astonishing amount of content, mostly all in the North of Spain (hence why it is so lovely and green!), but showcasing pretty much all mainline and high speed Spanish locos and rolling stock.

This video is the most recent and gives a nice glimpse into Spanish non-highspeed railways.

You mean Perpignan France Languedoc-Roussillon Girona Catalonia Spain that should be 95 km length with Renfe 252 25KV 50hz ETCS ASFA 3kv DC 1.5kv DC KVB VACMA as your freight locomotive S100 Passenger and that can layer onto LGV as 08:06 Marseille Saint Charles 15:45 Madrid Atocha.

I do not understand that they do not make Spain. We are the second country in the world with the most high-speed routes in the world and the country with the best
commuter system in all of Europe ...

Are they not enough reasons to have a Spanish route?

it doesn't look like it for dtg .....

You realise there is literally no connection available between Perpignan & Avignon. They'd need to build a 3rd route to connect them.

Thanks for telling me about this. For DTG the linking of LGV Méditerranée to LGV Perpignan Girona needs LGV Avignon Montpelier opened in 2018 then the 2025-2030 LGV Montpelier Perpignan. The video shows the Angeles Junction north of Avignon TGV Station. Comments of the video are in the French language including the title.

It might not be up to DTG. If Renfe says no then that scuppers any chance of Spain appearing in TSW. I’m not saying that’s the reason currently but it is possible that they won’t license their brand for the game.

"Best commuter system in Europe" that sounds quite subjective.

Plus, DTG have to consider 'will this new country sell well?' if they don't think Spain would, they aren't likely to make it. Hence why they generally stick to UK/DE/US.

Then there is licensing. Would Renfe allow it?

It's not that I'm subjective. that Renfe has the best commuter system in all of Europe

It's true ..... there are videos on youtube that prove it ..... it's not something that I made up
