The LGV Méditerranée is one of my favourite routes in TSW2. However, driving mostly the same services on the same train can get a little boring over time. As much as I like the TGV Duplex 200, I think this route needs some variety to it’s trains. That’s, why I am suggesting the addition of the SNCF’s TGV Réseau as a loco/train add-on for the LGV Méditerranée-route. TGV Réseau at the Marseille Saint Charles station The SNCF TGV Réseau (TGV-R) trainsets were built between 1992 and 1996 by Alstom. Like the TGV Duplex, their top speed in service is 320km/h. I haven’t got information of the amount of services that they run on the route. If you got any better information of this train’s service patterns, please share your knowledge below. The DTG’s original add on for Train Simulator also included the TGV RDuplex, which is basically the same locomotive, with the TGV Duplex-coaches. Since we already have the Duplex-coaches, it should be pretty easy thing for DTG to include it in the add-on. TGV RDuplex When it comes to liveries, it would be great, if this train would come in both Atlantique and Carmillon liveries. However if that’s not possible, I would rather have the Carmillon livery, as it is more up to date. The Carmillon-livery: The Atlantique-livery: Overall I think that this add-on would benefit the LGV Méditerranée-route greatly. Although it wouldn’t bring much of a change to the route’s services, it would still offer that much needed variety to it. Since we are unlikely to get a route extension in the near future, I think this would be the best way to improve this route for many players.
The TGV Réseau in the silver blue (Atlantique?) livery is the best looking train I've ever seen. I don't have plans to buy the route, but if the silver-blue Réseau gets added, I'd buy it just for that awesome looking train. (Unless the reviews are extremely negative, like the Train Simulator version... shame how DTG messed up the best looking train there.) EDIT: with the single deck coaches, to clarify. Looks considerably less awesome with the double deck coaches IMO.
The Atlantique livery is truly awesome. I think this train has a lot of potential to be a great add-on to the game, especially if multiple liveries and RDuplex are included. What exactly happened with the Train Simulator version? Dovetail has removed it from the Steam, so it must have been quite a mess.
That's not a good sign. I can't remember DTG removing something from Steam just because of negative reviews. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a licensing issue and SNCF wants their trains in the newest livery. (Which doesn't look as good as the silver-blue livery did).
Very good suggestion and you might just as well add TGV Résau 4500s with SCMT ATB EG/NG and Memor II TBL Belgium because in the actual timetable they're used for Marseille Saint Charles to Brussels Midi. Often coupling to a Perpignan Brussels service at Lyon
If Réseau comes in as a DLC, it definitely needs to be in the Atlantique livery, that would definitely improve the variety compared to everything in Carmillon. Making Réseau would also be a nearly free path to R-D (you only need a second livery either for the locos to made a Carmillon R-D or coached to make an Atlantique R-D). As for services - I think Matt has mentioned that the route has a complete selection of services that run there, so you wouldn't be able to add new without making the timetable unrealistic (I wouldn't mind a couple of extra trains there). So it would probably be a substitute. That being said if the substitution went wild, you could have any of the three unit types (R, R-D or D) on a train, even combination run IRL. (some combos from the video) Duplex and Réseau-Duplex: Duplex and Réseau: (granted the video is from 2014, but I have seen such combinations on other lines myself two years ago, so it probably still is a thing) So if they give us a new TGV train (practically two of them) and just throw them randomly into the existing timetable... I'm all for it.
The catch with R-D formation is that if the Duplex is Coupled to a 4500 TGV Résau set at some point during the journey it must separate from the 4500 series TGV Résau because it has TBL Memor II Infrabel and Dutch ATB ProRail installed. Basically at Lyon Part Dieu it's where the separation between the two occurs that way TGV Résau continue onwards to Brussels which is only seen in game at Aix-en-Provence as a TGV Duplex. Another combination likely is 4700 TGV Duplex 15kv 16.7hz Sifa PZB LZB Germany Austria capable to a TGV Résau
The video I've linked has been taken pretty much where the DLC part of the route is. So my very amateur guess is they can run together on what we have. What happens in Lyon, is probably a different story
