Klumps of Kudos to all positive contributors to this great thread. Clods of coal to all the rest.

I really have to develop the habit of walking around.

A neat detail in the F7 on CRR:
The other night I wasn't paying attention and came up on a red light. Thankfully it was uphill and the E-brake is super strong, but after slamming it into emergency the engine shut off. At first I was confused and thought it was a bug or that I had broken it or something, but then I found an F7 manual where it says:

Even if a little puzzling at first, these types of things are what really make me appreciate the game, even with its flaws

Did anyone notice the submarine? Is there one in reality, too? (SEHS, Strood)

Yep! Although it seems a bit worse for wear IRL than in the game. upload_2021-7-8_13-29-6.jpeg

Weathering effects and rain drops :) Also, this is one of my fav trains - so much fun to drive with RD!

Excellent details for these features in Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen. I just wish that DTG puts in Overhead Wires 15kv 16.7hz on the SKA Turnable to be used by Layered locomotives on Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen.

Some layered in BR 101s perhaps, but those would be either just shunting or even AI only as no IC services run to Aachen anymore as far as I know.

Can’t remember if it’s been mentioned already but if you stand next to the lineside equipment cabinets on Sandpatch you can hear the electrical hum from the equipment inside.

Just 'bookmarked' this wonderful thread. :)

Apologies if it's already been posted, but here's a snap I've just taken after testing my new GPU on the Isle of Wight.
It's from one of the carriages being pulled by the Class 483.
Have a look at the 4 banner posters from left to right. Matt is famous!

This was done for charity, whoever bid the most money got their picture in a poster and the winner asked if Matt could be put in, great poster in my opinion :)

Oh my!! It's funny how habits from the real life carry over to the game; I saw those ads many times but I actually never "noticed" Matt! I really seem to overlook details in posters I classify as advertisments :D

Not sure if this is deliberate or not, and wish I'd gotten a screen shot, but am currently doing the Divergent scenario on Cathcart. In the approaches to Mount Florida you pass over a bridge, and on the left side of the train I just watched two cars collide on the road below! One was turning right and one was going straight, and I think one spun in a circle, lol, but the train flashed passed too quickly for me to see any more. Assuming my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, and it was deliberate (and repeatable), well done! Provided no pixels were harmed, of course.

On the BR 363, there is an emergency stop button on the outside of the train, which actually works!

My son, who loves trains but struggles to drive them on TSW found a new way to enjoy the game the other day which was to just amble down Tees Valley Line searching for collectibles. It's so good that he did as his inquisitive found several areas not blocked by invisible walls just ripe for exploration that we had no idea were there.

First up one of the smaller industrial sidings. If only we could get a bit of scenario planner use in here. Would be great for the 12ton vans. There's so much detail modelled in here too.
    c147785c-c851-46e9-a701-faca898fd13b.jpeg 4ea1e890-fbdc-4a02-8809-827add317cf3.jpeg

Going a little further, he found this little diorama so lovingly detailed but totally missed from the drivers seat.

    49c3ef0e-0762-499f-8807-d2cd1eec9719.jpeg

Finally this time, the goods station that seems to be closed to traffic on the route has some tremendously real feeling brickwork.
    62fef732-a4cd-4896-9727-dada5ab5ff57.jpeg

We're both looking forward to what other treasures are hidden in the route. With detail like this, its amazing how much added value routes have above and beyond driving them.

Some of those unused areas on TVL make me feel like there could be either more services (and layers with the 12t vans), or another loco DLC (not sure which one though). That route could see a little more of its branches explored, although it is already really good. It's generally full of interesting details, with even the Tees Newport bridge moving up and down, with sounds, from time to time. Even as a mainly German (and Dutch) railfan that route is among my favourites, and I own all the loco add-ons for it because of that (so adding details generates sales DTG ;)).

On BML, near Preston Park (and maybe somewhere else?) there is a substation that hums at a nice 49-50Hz, just as a proper substation would. A very small detail that would probably have gone completely unnoticed if it were 60Hz or some other random frequency, but they did it anyway. :)

Anyone notice that in the new trainset for Rush Hour, the base trains, if you either click on the phone or the PTT button, it will contact the dispatcher just like you can do by using the TAB key

I believe that's the case for all three of the rush hour routes..... Possibly a few of the other newer routes too.

On Riesa - Dresden, you can insert a ticket to validate it at almost every station, including sounds and animation. Now that is something else!

Yes, that game is kind of contemplative. You can Just dit un à train and watch, or explore to find those litlle détails.
    Really Nice feeling.

It's not really a little detail, but I do like the fact they included the BR double arrow on the roof of Gatwick station on the BML

I've always loved the fact that you cannot open the driver's door from inside of the 101 unless you drop the window first..... nice little touch

Confused me a lot in the beginning, until I looked closer and got it. Why doesn't it just have a door handle on the inside? A lot of passenger rolling stock also doesn't, with the 'slam door' HST's being most famous for it. I just never understood why.

Passenger stock on HST's didn't tend to, because it was a "safety feature or suicide deterrent". You'd struggle to undo the door at line speed if the handle needed to be twisted. In the days before interlocking door locks.

Interesting, thanks, I hadn't thought about what it would mean for opening doors at speed (I don't often do that in my daily life you see), that sounds more logical :).

The funny thing is, although it was a preventative detail, it never stopped nearly everyone dropping the windows on the old EMUs and opening the doors coming into Charing Cross every morning when I commuted:o

Ah yes, the good old days of being able to open the doors and get out whilst the train was still moving and I never fell or tripped once whilst doing so :)

Wouldn't dream of it if it was possible now though :D

I just realized that there are actually some Sv-Signals in HHL (see picture below). To my knowledge, this signaling system is no longer in use anywhere, except for some Hamburg S-Bahn tracks. Does anyone know if the signals work in the game and if there are any services using them?

There are even disused stations / platforms. One is on eastcoastway between the port and seaford.
Tees valley has an entire station before southbank.
Southeastern high speed has one south of rochester.

I just started playing TSW2 a few months ago, and it is my only train sim. The way the sim handles light can either be infuriating, or wonderful. An example of wonderful on Sand Patch, the shadows of the chain link fence projected on the rail web. Fantastic!

Running the service 1P18 (e.g.) on BML I thought I heared the bells of Croyden Minster at South Croyden station (at around 9:45h on Monday, 15th November 2021). But when I replayed the service, I did not hear them anymore.. interesting. :)

Not really a small detail, but there is a Peterbilt 379 in a nice US flag livery parked in Cheyenne, just east of the depot. (And it has the Peterbilt logo on the nose)

Im honestly curious about the story behind this truck, as the only thing I can find is a 2001 379 owned by a company named YELTON with a very similar livery to this one.

I've just noticed on the Tees valley line the canal bridge around the time shown near Middlesborough lowers.
