The Class 387 is a variant of the electrostar that has extra 650hp over the class 375 and 377. These trains also have a top speed 10mph faster than the 375s and 377s. While a slightly adapted model of the 375 or 377 would work, they would need some adjustments to their performance to reflect the differences between the electrostars already in game and the Class 387. Minor adjustments to the cab should also be made, to reflect any differences between the existing electrostars and the class 387. As far as liveries are concerned, Thameslink and Gatwick Express would be the best to include in a Class 387 pack, along with scenarios for the London - Bedford and London - Brighton routes. Thameslink Gatwick Express Both pictures from Wikipedia While I am aware of the existence of these as liveries for the existing electrostar models, they do not have the improvements to power and speed that were made to the class 387, with the speedometer still showing the 100mph limit instead of the 387s 110mph limit. This is why I believe that it would be better to have a dedicated model for the 387 than just relying on using a repaint of the 375s/377s. Feel free to discuss in the comments.
Luckily AP are soon to release a Class 387 Enhancement Pack. They posted a picture of it a few days ago on their Facebook page.
Would a GWR and a C2C livery be good for completeness. With the GWR you could do some scenarios from Hayes & Harlington to Paddington on the original GWML route but if they made a new GWML route then it would have far more scenario potential if it was set after the electrification of the GWML by network rail.
I don't see that happening as Just Trains have done Paddington to Cardiff/Bristol - Exeter. Somebody was doing a patch to add Electrification to that route
Is that route on steam if not then there would be a reason to make a new GWML route. I think the new GWML route should run from Paddington to Basingstoke/Newbury/Swindon/Oxford with the route being electrified in its current form.
I doubt that the route would be made by DTG as it already exists. Are people who have already spent £27 on a route going to spend the same amount again just to get electric trains?
Peter is right. A Workshop freebie would be more likely. Or something at ATS. And in both cases, the 387 from AP would likely do the job.
Did DTG make the Western Mainlines? The kuju GWML is only £6 and often on sales for much less than that.
That was Just Trains. And self-published. Bristol to Exeter is in SWE to Reading but rebuilt in that route. WML also goes to Cardiff on SWC and is actually the first incarnation of that. Swindon to Bristol is unique to the route, but another version is in the Workshop. South Devon and Cornish can be added in turn, plus Paignton and the Bicester area near Oxford as DLC. Finally, WML is a requirement for BHBP. That includes other goodies like St. Ives, the Looe branch, and the brand new Dartmoor Railway starting at Exeter. Extensions mentioned above are not required for BHBP and Cornish is even part of that.
Since it is not on steam and it is set pre Network Rails electrification then there would enough reason to buy it and if it came with the BR Class 769 then that would make it even more different to the JT Western Mainlines unless they put the full route on steam and ATS OLE pack also goes on to steam.
WML’s problem is age. A new version might work with that, but it would be much smaller. Get this one and run whatever you want on BHBP, which is getting a Paddington extension. Pretty much covers the entire route with only the Oxford part and Bicester missing. Reading to Bristol needs adding too to complete the network in the southwest. Also, JT almost never includes a train in routes.
Steam is not the answer to everything. There is so much available for this game that is not on Steam I doubt that JT would put the Western Mainlines on Steam but it could happen. JT's Western Mainlines is set after Reading was remodelled so suitable for Electrification. ATS are very unlikely to put the OLE pack on Steam as most people would not need it. It does not appear in any official routes just Payware and Freeware There are two downloads on ATS for an Electrified Great Western route. One uses the ATS OLE the other uses the OLE form London - Faversham And there is an Electrified version of London to Oxford but it is old and a bit basic Peter
Replying to this point. If the OHLE pack comes to Steam it will be in Chat Moss or another route using it. And it will be full DLC price. Thing is, they would have to bundle the other assets in from third party sites, so it is not happening.
I don't know if that old one is still available but a newer version is https://www.rwcentral.com/files/file/248-upgrade-oxford-paddington/
Interesting that some non-English routes are requirements for that. I have the Konstanz route, myself, but not sure about the other offhand.
