What features added to TSW 2 would make the game better to play? I think features like SDO and even passenger announcements for stops or even an option for the player to make a voice announcement to the passenger using your microphone. EG: when your stuck at a red light.
I think more Passenger Information Systems would be good. I know there are some coming in the update soon which is good to see!
Hearing the guard, even just the buzzer going off would add immersion. But better lighting at stations and louder sounds of the trains would help also.
PIS on both platforms and trains. During the wintertime running a maximum line speed will cause a derailment.
Longer trains, as is for US ops they're either limited to short lines, or have laughably short trains for mainline ops. Also proper physics for said longer trains, TS Classic routes like Sherman Hill feel a million times more convincing than Sand Patch when it comes things like braking distance.
Platform announcements. Good especially for the BKL The sound of electric currents when the train is arriving. The ‘thud’ sound when trains go over one piece of track to another. sparks
I would like: On train/station announcements. Guard buzzer or dispatch whistles (where appropriate). Improved textures on the PS5/Xbox Series X/S and PC. Most textures are reasonable/good. Some are dud. All could be better. Better rail ‘clatter’ sounds. This list could be endless really. There is so much I’d like to see incorporated at some point.
For me it would be the following: More Road Vehicles Currently (from what I've seen) almost all vehicles in game are just cars, basic ones at that. I think appropriate vehicles, such as Lorries/Trucks in Industrial Yards, Buses every now and again in and around towns, etc. Would be good to make the world feel just that bit more alive.
Of course new features are a good thing if they enhance the realism and immersion levels. I already posted my wish list for Rush Hour elsewhere on the forum. And some of the changes to the core elements look interesting. But I think fixing the existing problems in the game would be more valuable to me, at least the major ones such as lighting/headlights, the save function, water textures and grade crossings. When kids get sparkly new toys, they tend to stuff the old ones in the closet and forget about them. I hope the work will continue to fix these problems as well as the issues with existing routes and locomotives.
Locomotive swings from side to side Line slope changes in real time Passenger diversity (movements, luggage, conversation) A more realistic city
Announcement Multiplayer Train driver conductor (on the platform the announcements start at the desk etc.) dynamic signals and events monitoring (EbuLa (with this you can finally turn off the overlays and still know when you will arrive at the station) a decent memory function (without opening 10 windows must extremely interfere with the recordings) dynamic events on board (to inform the control center / signal box etc. in the MP that an ambulance is required at the next train station) unplanned events, which is why you sometimes stand and wait at the train station Edit: 20:04 Uhr - Umfrage durch DTG: " 14. Bitte sortieren Sie diese potenziellen Features nach Präferenz, beginnend mit Ihrem bevorzugten Feature." Multiplayer kam gar nicht vor. und DTG so "Ja, es hat sich keiner für MP entschieden", LoL. Mal wieder ein DTG Fail... "14. Please sort these potential features by preference, starting with your preferred feature." There was no multiplayer at all. and DTG like "Yes, nobody opted for MP", LoL. Another DTG Fail ... Did it appear in the English version?
It would be interesting if someone actually kept a list of things that have been suggested so DTG could find it easy to read and perhaps a poll could be created to show what features are liked the most?
More AI trains to add realistic timetables Better looking buildings with lighting and maybe people Vehicles moving in a more realistic way Preparation and disposal of trains Working platform monitors where provided Definitely improved train sounds Station lighting More trains in sidings and depots, with more movements.
It was already shown in the video that there should be something about it, i.e. timetables. But with 24 hours, not a 24 day. Because the trains have to be back at the right starting point after 24 hours.
In train announcements for passenger Properly run air brakes including manually hooking up air lines when coupling with longer pump up times Manually hooking up multiple engine cables when shunting with locomotives More shunting being able to make proper scenarios (like we can do in TS) Proper headlights
A career mode would also add a lot of fun, imo and give meaning than just going from A - B. It could be done in the form of having a boss where you get put on certain trains and get rated. Potentially getting sacked, reprimanded or promoted. Just something different.
In train and station announcements Add road traffic to roads that have Railroad Crossings and cars stopping at railroad crossings. Conductor Mode/Ai Conductor. Multiplayer
weird things that happen during services - e.g. something blocking the line - platform closed due to an incident
Excellent point and how about winter time you cannot drive over 160 kmh (100 mph) or 200 km/h (125 mph) because at speeds of 300-320 (185-200 mph) you are actually going to derail this from a Smithsonian Channel TV show cold Mighty Trains. Since the host talked about running at high speeds during wintertime conditions you are doing to derail something not seen in game for Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen.
Or how about we don't make TSW a simulator of things that can kill or severely injure people, and instead keep it to operating trains? Honestly what the hell is happening to these forums these days.
I agree in the sense that 'disruption events' would be a good addition (provided they can be turned on/off), however anything that has - in real life - harmed or killed people should NOT be in the game. I'm sure the vast majority of people agree.
driverwoods#1787 I'm curious as to why you decided to like this post, considering it's going completely against what you said. It implies that you agree with me, despite me flat out disagreeing with your post.
I agree we should never see something traumatic as someone leap off a platform in front of a train, but I don't agree that we could not come across a situation where we have to slow down because the intended platform is changed due to such an incident and we have to divert to another one through a cross over. It can be referred to in the same mundane wording they use on real railways as a "police incident". It doesn't need to be graphic but its reality and this is a simulator purporting to model the real world. The real world includes tragic things that impact real lives. Paul
My top 7 of features I like (number 1 being the most important to me): 1. Working destination boards on the trains (instead of the "Nicht einsteigen" we have now) 2. The guard buzzing twice before leaving (and an assignable keyboard button for using the buzzer, like in TS20XX) 3. AI trains using their horns when required (stations and level crossings on US routes, whistle boards in the UK, tunnels as well) 4. An option in the menu to have safety systems enabled by default (turning them on every time is very unrealistic, because they are on all the time IRL) 5. Sound of the wheels rolling over the track joints 6. Working SDO 7. Random events happening during services
I would like to see better lighting and dynamic weather and life weather would be really cool, but otherwise train announcements and that's all I want to see in the game
You know of all the things you mentioned, I think horns stands out the most. I know that it would be hard to make them follow all the local whistle codes everywhere, but taking a simple approach just having each train sound a brief toot before moving and a toot approaching level crossings would be so much better than nothing at all. I think a great route would be the euro tunnel to paris whit the eurostar e320 or the euro tunnel car shuttle
I suggested the Euro Tunnel before only going to Amsterdam but people who know more about the route than me say the majority of the route is just going through the Tunnel (should get decent frame rates then, lol) so not really that much fun. Shame really, I'm only into UK routes but would buy this route if starting from London say.
A scenario editor as good as the one in TS Classic; Be interested to see the new cab sway, it's never felt right to me. I think the problem for me is that the cab moves about and the player stays still with the outside environment. I think it would work better if the player moved with the cab and the ground/environment did the moving; Sounds have been spoken about a lot, track/junction noised would add a lot to it; Lighting, also spoken about a lot but what I haven't seen mentioned is that the human eye is not taken into consideration. That is, it may well be dark down the Bakerloo tunnels but in real life the human eye would compensate and see through the murkiness, same goes for night situations.
Yeah I’ll love for a Eurostar route or even the shuttle route to add the euro tunnel to the game. Probably London to Amsterdam as it’s the shortest, however Eurostar’s licensing is difficult to get ahold of but I’ll love for Eurostar to get added.
Longer Routes would be appreciated, especially for the Highspeed services. Personally i‘d love to see the ICE 1,2 or 4 getting added for the german routes, would add a lot to the game. Another point I really want to see is route extensions (I really dont care about the DLC dependencies, they‘ve done it multiple times for classic TS anyways.)
I'd like to see longer routes as well and extensions for that matter. I remember in a stream DTG stated that doing longer routes is not a problem as they have some auto scenery generator but they said longer routes must be 'Interesting' which is a bit of a cop out I think. 'Interesting' to who?
I reccon they mean to a large playerbase Some people will love long fast routes Where as me and I guess others get bored driving the ice in ska
A longer route can have appeal to people who even like shorter services though. Marias Pass for example has a ton of yards which can be used for all sorts of shunting and local sessions. while giving people the option for longer ones as well. I have a hard time believing a route like that would preform worse than say Cane Creek, which lets be honest is kind of a one trick pony.
I'd like to see an option on passenger trains to have the AI open and close doors instead of the engineer. In the US anyway, the engineer doesn't touch doors at all. Its the conductor's job to open and close doors.
Adding station staff, a greater variety of textures and details, more passengers and behaviors, little details to platforms, would all go a long way for a more immersive experience in my books
They mean interesting to people like me - while I've got most of the longer ones (in fact all of them except France) I rarely run the long services, I use the commuter services that are usually with them. I'm rarely in the mood to start a train and do nothing for 40 minutes. It's an interest thing for me - I get that other people love them and that's ok, but they don't really excite me. Paul
