Let's not spread misinformation and derail the thread, please.

What in the name of all the saints do gaming computers have to do with wildfires?

The video explains a lot and defuses some of the wilder claims, but doesn't get around the fact that CA is indeed banning (store-bought) computers with certain high-wattage power supplies, forcing their replacement in the market with either more expensive compliant power supplies, or (I can certainly see HP doing this), fiddling the regulation by adding surplus PCIE and USB slots to increase the budget overhead.

Note that from 16:00 the video guy is touting the wonderfulness of his own company installing solar despite the fact it makes no economic sense to do so, so we can see where he's coming from. (And no mention of the fact that those solar panels will be made in China using coal-fired power).

It has nothing to do with the wattage capacity of the PSU and everything to do with idle power draw. As said in the video, it doesn't matter if the PSU is 450W or 2000W, if it doesn't meet the idle power requirements (which, by the way, are not that strict. It is basically 80+ Gold standard) then it can't be approved for sale. It just so happens that Dell, a company that was involved with the creation of these regulations five years ago, failed to update its hardware like every other OEM to meet the new spec and so hit the hard regulatory wall.

But the reason that I posted this video is not to say that California isn't banning gaming PCs, because every lie springs from a kernel of truth. The reason is because people try to, in the spirit of yellow journalism and politically-fuelled anger, make it appear as if California is banning all or most "gaming PCs" because of high max power loads. The truth is, as always, far more nuanced and slightly less exciting.

This quip completely disregards the net carbon emissions over the course of a solar panel's life, or Energy Return on Invested (EROI). But that is another discussion and, frankly, a non-sequitur.

    Cheers

Please forgive a 'stupid' newbie question but am I right that the DTG Roadmap streams are fortnightly rather than weekly? You'd think I'd know this by now! Only I found one for 13th July and another 27th so guessing the next one is next Tuesday, 10th?

Yep, that sounds right... And hopefully DTG don't allow their entire community team to be on holiday at the same time next time round

Actually, I'll be on vacation that week of August 10th, so I would appreciate it if the Roadmap stream could be postponed until the following week.

If they were releasing something would they not do another Tuesday stream?

They usually always do a stream on day of release, so that means there will be on the 19th.

    Reisa to Dresden - 2nd September 2021

    Brighton Mainline - 16th September 2021

decent enough guess however, end of the stream I heard “coming months” which make me think Brighton may be as late as October. Am sure it will be worth the wait.

by typing this post helps me manage my own expectations ;)

Just can’t see the split or delay however others may wish to see it being so close by only two weeks after the previous. New routes from rush hour 1 per month I think.

If Brighton comes in the fall, I can live with that. I want it to be fantastic. I have very high expectations. It’s an iconic, busy route and it needs to be given a lot of love.

Just one word. Textures. I repeat. Textures. Make the buildings, ground and any other textures look worn and weathered. It definitely improves the realism.

Was there any news in the stream on when the 'Train Sim World 2 update' with the 4.26 upgrade will launch? Will it be the Tuesday 17th (as is now usual for updates before a route launches) or will it all be on 19th?

    excellent question and thought too.

Imagine the next road map being the 10th it will be confirmed or announced then.

so are we getting the unreal update and next gen versions on the 17th?

might book the day off :D

It was mentioned that the plan is to separate the core update from the Boston Sprinter download, so that the update will be "out of the way" before the route downloads. So they will hope to release the update on the 17th.

I presume the 4.26 core update, other DLC and PS5 version will be released prior to the Boston Sprinter launch on 19 August? Hoping for the 17 August as that’s the usual update day, but it might only release on 19 August.

I think Sam said DTG were hoping to release it on the Tuesday before but that their is no definite plans so it could release the same time although I think they are asking for trouble if they do. IMO releasing the patch two days before a major route is pushing it. They should give it a week before so as to give players time to get everything settled before the first release. If anything goes wrong with the patch release installing a route on top of that will only make things worse.

If Boston releases on the 19th, I doubt they'll have had enough time to get everyone updated with UE from Tuesday 17th. As mentioned above, I think the updates will start rolling out from the 10th onwards.

This makes sense, which means that DTG definitely won't do it that way.

Surely they must of finished the update by now or are putting the final touches on it, so it would of been nice to give the community time to get things sorted before the first route but like you say I don't think DTG see it that way.

    Something is coming soon.
I've just got a red flag on my shopping basket on dovetail live in game, along with more info on Boston.

It's not "watered down" but it might be classed as a public beta since there are apparently a couple of minor interface tweaks (like the map font) which DTG still want to make before the Steam/console release. However, it has all the functionality of 4.26.
