Actually, as of 2021 all of CSX' road engines are fitted with ATC. ACSES to the best of my knowledge is Amtrak-specific.

stujoy Did they give any answer to this? Mostly I'm interested to know if that big AI traffic is going to be cut back a lot on the old consoles.
Thanks, I'm not fluent in English and a lot of things escape me.

I am fully aware of that. Consider it as a suggestion for a DLC.

It is nice that the freight yards look not empty.
Thank you very much for that information. Do you know if the CSX locos have PTC (Progressive Train Control) in real?

As someone who lives in the North Eastern USA, this route has me very excited. Glad to see a USA passenger route for TSW2. Especially can’t wait to play on my Series X!

Well, I‘m not stujoy, but if I recall correctly, Boston Sprinter will have the same timetable on all platforms including last gen consoles. No confirmation was given for the other two routes.

200 passengers for PC , xbox series x and PS5. A big boost for console.

700+ services - that sounds proud. Boston seems very busy. I like the concept of "AI scenery trains". However, during the presentation, we did not meet any NB train (maybe one? **). Interested to see the timetable. Besides - the route is very atmospheric. Usually, the winter scenery is annoying to me because of the "white blobs" - in this case, improvements were made. If I understand correctly - this is route-specific - the changes are not global (4.26)? Clinchfield? Anyway - August 19 is a foretaste of Christmas Eve for me.

** Or are they not letting anyone out of Providence anymore? Cthulhu?

The stream ran the southern part of the route; most of the route's traffic is T lines converging on Boston at the north end.

They said that it was the same timetable on all platforms. I assume that means all the AI services will be there. They didn’t answer it from my question directly but from questions in the live chat.

Well, given the difficulty of getting a ps5 at the moment, I'm happy to know that I'll still have all that traffic on my dinosaur console :D. I don't quite understand how they managed it, considering that HMA couldn't handle a little more than 400 services and this route has more than twice as many. I imagine that being AI traffic it will consume less resources, or something like that I understood Matt to say yesterday.

Its not the quantity of services that's the issue (and a fully populated HMA is more like around 1200 services including all the AI trains) - it's the variety of rail vehicles that have to be loaded into memory.

On Boston, those 700 services are delivered by a constrained set of vehicles that easily fit in memory. On HMA you have a huge range of trains to deliver the busy timetable - and that's where things get icky.

There *is* a small overhead per service of course but it's tiny, the problem is the number of different types of trains. 3,000 services with 1 train is easy. 100 with 100 different trains is a problem.

Hello Matt. I think the best solution for HMA would be alternative timetables like in RT or GWE.

As Matt mentioned in the stream, I have been brought on board to replace all the catenary. Trust me that I won't miss anything.

If the military taught me anything, it's attention to detail.

Lots of concerns here but one point has been overlooked- none of the scenery looks anything like Lincolnshire and the trains are all foreign.

I think you missed the joke. He was referring to the older consoles because of how plain and low res some of the textures look.

Yes- a silly regulatory rule dating back to the ICC days. Even on double-cab engines, you have to designate and mark the "front."

Surely those screenshots clearly depict things that are still a work in progress, right?

At times it is noticeable - low resolution of textures, e.g. on buildings. This DLC was probably a long time in production. In my opinion, it is a very nice-looking route anyway.

I’m confused about the number of services included. From a Google search, according to various travel websites (1map, wanderu, omio) there are either 11, 13 or 22 services a day between Boston and Providence, depending on who you believe (and presumably the same on the return journey). So where does 700 services come from? Are they all driveable?

Total = Amtrak + MBTA + AI scenery trains (going out of the map). ~200 are driveable

~500 of those services are AI-only MBTA services that run between Boston and off-map locations (i.e. out through portals). They're there to make Boston South suitably busy.

While I certainly understand that, a great number of the omitted services at Munchen are S-Bahn 423s, which would not have run into that problem. They would be boring as player trains and probably best as AI 'scenery' trains, since they all leave the Augsburg line no later than Laim or Pasing, but they would add to the busyness.

It would have been nice to have the Foxboro branch. I think that's the only other branch that could have been added.

Can you elaborate? If you mean the constant tension system, then no.

I think the challenge there is that the only regular service to Foxboro comes off the Franklin line, so at best we'd have a couple event specials. I did notice it looks like some of the AI services are present at Readville, which is cool especially as there's a sizeable MBTA yard there.

Cathcart didn’t have a constant tension system, however it did have proper termination points at where the track ends, such as at terminals and sidings.

Typically DTG just leave the wire floating in mid-air at buffer stops. Can you confirm whether you’ll be including termination points where the track ends or not?

there is a couple of things that usually are only in one cab, so it's good to know which cab that is. In my country cabs are designated "1" and "2". The "1" cab is the main one.

The only change that comes to my mind in recent times was Skyhook making minor changes to the UP AC4400CW for Cane Creek. Both the model and livery, though things still ended up wrong on release. (Like the ride hight or the broken backwards truck)

Yes, both northbound and southbound services will be included. With the northbound services the cab car is used for the MBTA trains.

A lot dirty is more like it. MBTA trains are always grimy, unless they are brand new, but even that is uneven in CR as they often tack on one or two new coaches in the middle of a grimy old train. The trains in the screenshots look impossibly spotless. Never in my life have I ever seen an MBTA commuter train actually clean. I get that the T would probably not be very happy with actual realism in that department, but the current models are so clean it takes me a bit out of it, I must admit. Here's to hoping either DTG or a modder will provide us with some nice grime on these in time.

I only got around to watching the stream yesterday, and despite the excessive cleanliness, I was impressed. The amount of passengers and AI trains finally makes TSW seem alive. I can't wait to get my hands on this. And the first RH route being in Boston, in which I spent large chunks of my adolescence, is more icing on the cake for me. I always dreamed as a kid to take a look into the cab of one of those driving carriages, but the T always ran the driving trailer empty on my line, it was locked for crew use only, so I never actually saw the inside of those cabs in real life. Now I'll get to drive 'em

The real question in my mind is how long will it take to get the new passengers system ported to the old routes. My guess is, judging with how long they've been dragging their feet with raildriver support for preserved collection content, a heck of a long time :|
