Ogden is one of the Union Pacific's biggest terminals across their entire system. It's also where it would meet and interchange with the Southern Pacific. Here we see a myriad of freight cars waiting to be sorted and interchanged circa 1950. SP's yard is adjacent to the UP's and can also be seen in the background. Route Used: Union Pacific's Wasatch Grade Locomotive Used: N/A
Freight wasn't the only thing that was interchanged at Ogden. At the nearby Union Station a UP pair of UP and SP passenger cars sit on opposite tracks from each other. It was here that trains like the famed Overland Limited were handed off. UP would handle the train east from Ogden, while the SP would handle the train west to California.
