The notes seem to be missing some of the buzz points like MSB sounds, BKL landmarks on consoles etc. "Enabled substitution of the Union Pacific GP38-2 so that it is usable on other routes." Also, what is this supposed to mean? Probably the only option is Sand Patch as Cane Creek is too steep for it and it wasn't really present there.
It appears confirmed on discord that only the walking animations will be coming to BKL & Koln instead of the FAQ mentioned passenger enhancements such as variety & increased numbers at rush hour, looks like we going to be waiting awhile longer for those.
I was hoping we'd see passengers fixed on Rhein-Ruhr Osten. There's one or two stations where they spawn in and are all stuck together in one place (always like this).
Does anyone know what they mean by this in the Hamburg-Lübeck section? What‘s an EoTD for a German train?
Why they didn't implement LZB to the MSB 146.2 and 185.2, they 're both layered on HMA and SKA, so LZB would have made sense...
I'm hoping they make the skybox universal at some point so they never need to apply it on a per-route basis again. In a recent RH stream, Matt mentioned the passenger system would become universal for all routes moving forward, so hopefully, they have the skybox on their radar too.
It wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, which makes me worried. We really need the 146's sounds fixed. Right now it's completely unplayable because of the ear-hurting broken sounds.
It was pointed out that RT and LIRR got skybox in their updates, so we can only hope it's a given that all preserved routes will get the same treatment! It's nice that SEH gets some updates though - the missing AWS around Strood, broken repeaters and I think the drivers eyeline adjusted in the 465, and finally the NTP Duff gets it's dragging brake fixed. Yay! Can't believe the BR146 sounds aren't fixed though, the loco appears on pretty much every route - isn't also planned to be used for the Dresden route too?
I guess these, just reflective posts, so the end of the train is not completely dark. Not 100 % sure THEY mean this though. Can you see UP Geeps there though IRL?
No, Union Pacific Geeps are pretty much regulated to either yard work or local freights, they are NEVER (At least around here) put on a mainline train unless being ferried between yards or maintenance facilities. Peninsula Corridor and Cane Creek are the only 2 logical routes for the GP38-2, though the lack of HP may cause issues for the Geep on Cane Creek. (Real life Potash locals have used GP40-2s and GP60s in the past however)
Forgot it was the “Glorious Twelfth”. It’s open season at Dovetail. Now where did I put my pet complaint, I’m sure they’ve omitted it again…
And it makes me think why many (from the preview streams) wanted a UP GP38 for Cane Creek. As underpowered of a Geep as it is (no matter which route), just why?
I am not afraid Adam's team will need a new job within a long period of time. But for the moment, let's be happy with what we get now. It is more I have ever seen before and they managed not to blow the complete UI as I have seen several times with TS.
Only thing that comes to my mind as well. I just found the specific use of the term EoTD odd since I associate that with North American railroading.
Could the change to the Class 33 (default brakes being changed from vacuum to air) perhaps mean it can be used in railtours? I just really want to be able to use it on ECW/BML outside of scenario planner (or any route for that matter!)
I must say I was expecting there to be more on sound fixes but I’m not sure DTG know what we mean when we say the sound is broken. Sounds cutting in and out, bad looping and missing sound is easy to quantify from a dev point of view but the end result sounding awful is not something you can really put in a bug list to be fixed, as we found out with the fixes on LIRR’s M7. When we first got the preserved collection and some of the trains sounded much worse than in TSW2020, using how the trains sounded in TSW2020 as a starting point for a minimum to aim at with fixing them was what a lot of us wanted. The subjective nature of the results don’t help when evaluating whether enough work has been done either. I read something in the patch notes about a fix for hearing the wind when standing up in some locos and some general improvements for the 143. I’m not sure that was the extent of the issues reported. A lot of people have been vocal about the sound issues with the trains on MSB and there is nothing about sound in the notes for those. I think there was a release a while ago that improved the sounds slightly on MSB locos but I’m sure the feedback for that was that it hadn’t been much of an improvement. People are still asking about it, so I guess there’s more to do, but nothing in this update it seems. I thought it had been talked about in the streams that fixes had been done and were on their way. The only thing I can do is have a good listen when all the updates are done and see how it sounds to me. If I feel there is the need for more feedback, I’ll take extensive notes and post my findings on the forum. They will be subjective as well as objective as is the nature of the beast.
Hmm, so again something gets removed, without being open about it, just burried somewhere hoping no one would notice
Yeah it is odd if Bakerloo and SKA don't have the latest passengers, people who are new and buy in through the Deluxe package will now have an immediate introduction to the concept of "it will be added soon"
Maybe I've missed it, but I can't find anything about TrackIR in the patch notes... I hope it'll come anyway!
I'd be thrilled if we got what was promised, but looks like we aren't there either. DTG overpromising and underdelivering... Dejavu?
What was removed? DTG have been clear from the start that the full Rush Hour passenger system will only be included in the new routes, at least at first; older routes will have to be upgraded individually, as part of the Preserved Collection team's workload.
No they haven't. Quite clearly says in the FAQ's that the new passenger system should be coming to Bakerloo and Koln-Aachen at launch:
No one likes it when a promised improvement slips (including DTG), but there are only so many hours in the day. Perhaps Adam's team had to delay that to get more critical stuff done for the launch? Sure, it would be nice to see a larger number of passengers, each wearing varied outfits, but it's eye candy compared to driving the trains.
It's also not that big a deal for PC users, because we can always increase passenger density with an .ini tweak.
Adam's team were "finished" with RH earlier as discussed in a stream recently, the comment being they aren't route builders. They would have been the ideal people to try putting the new passengers on SKA and BKL though so they know how to do it for all the other routes. You wonder if it was attempted and they discovered it is more work than they thought it would be. Sounds familiar...
True. But... There are some "eye candys" on the list of upcoming changes, and there is no mention of fixing the "112" brakes. This is just an example
