We were told a step by step guide on how to make the upgrade from PS4 to PS5 would be released "shortly". It has now been six hours and users in New Zealand and Australia have access to the new update, yet no guide on how to update. Am I being stupid and it's been posted somewhere or have they just forgotten or "aren't ready yet"?
You are being stupid but not for the reason you think. It’s because you believed something they announced in writing on the internet. Stupid stupid stupid.
The update is supposed to come out tomorrow so just give it some time. TheTipsyRaccoon please calm down.
It already is tomorrow in many places, and with tomorrow looming in several others, concern is justified.
Hopefully they are working on it now so it should be available by tomorrow morning if not tonight. I assume that they will have to test that it works before releasing the information so as not to disapoint.
Could take up to 7 days for the collectors edition owners to see the upgrade as free in the PS store. Ok then.

Glad I have ever only purchased the standard editions of this game. Genuinely feel for those who are now waiting for up to a week- truly ridiculous.
