Downloading 70gb - Everything except Cane Creak. I picked the right time to switch to a faster Internet provider! Edit : Done and working
I was worried about disk space for a moment, because mine had dropped from 120Gb to 40GB free with less than half the (80GB) transfer done, but it looks like Steam (sensibly) reserves the full space it needs before starting the download.
The full game (with all DLCs) takes up ~250GB when installed, so the download is only about 40% of that (and being an engine upgrade *everything* needs replacing).
Yes! that works! Thank you. Now its just 56GB instead of the 65 GB. Also unlike last time it doesnt add extra space, it reduces it drastically. Thank you
Lucky, over 2 days for me, and not bought the season ticket yet I even had to pause the download just to get this webpage to load EDIT: Only installing base game & Cathcart, still over 8 hours just slowed to 21 hours (174 KB/s)
WOW ! My download took exactly one hour in total. I uninstalled all of my DLC, then reinstalled them one by one after the core update had completed. I now have only 64 Gb of DLCs, before it was 180 Gb ! ( I don't have all of the DLCs - 15 routes and some locos ) I tried it out on Sand Patch Powering America part 1 and completed it ! Always had problems previously and never managed it. Very pleased with the update, many thanks to the Dovetail team.
I have just changed back to dial-up internet. Steam says the download should finish in June 2034. Unfortunately that's 14 months after my funeral ........
The size reduction is really, really substantial. Previously it took 223GB of my drive...now just 85GB...31 DLCs. That is pretty impressive. The size of the biggest DLC I had, Munich - Augsburg reduced in size from 13,5GB (or so..) to this:
7 routes and a loco pack, 27.4GB, 3h51 last night for me. I have to restrict Stream downloads to 16Mb/s otherwise I get punitively throttled somewhere along the line.
