There's still a hard shadow cut off way too close to the player. Was really hoping this could be improved for the update because it really kills immersion for me. :/ Ultra settings btw.[IMG]

Shadow draw distance was improved, but just not by as much as people were hoping.

Yeah I've also noticed shadows appearing to the side of me on Munich. I think the DFS is simply not going out as far as people (including myself) have been expecting.

I hate that "chasing the shadow" effect. Proper immersion-killer. Surely modern high-end systems could afford to have that way off in the distance?

I'm 99.9% sure that is exactly the same shadow distance as before.

This has nothing to do with DFS. DFS improves the shadow pop in on distant static assets

Either way, I still hope it can be improved. There are UE4 games out there with far more distant shadows. Even a hidden .ini tweak would be welcome for those of us with GPU, CPU and RAM to spare.

But it does draw very basic shadows further out - this is based on memory so there shouldn't be much of a performance hit. On one of the streams Matt showed the difference between DFS on/off in a stream.

Yes. Unfortunately tracks are splines, not fixed graphic assets, so this doesn't help the "creeping sleepers" problem
