I was thinking the same after reading in this thread that the raised platforms were for disabled access….. Surely all these raised platforms have ramps in reality not steps? :D

I think they have both in real life. The ramp is generally around the back. A few stations on the route seem to be correct, but some are missing the ramp.

Something I noticed this afternoon when doing a couple of runs from Providence to Boston. When stopping at some stations with low platforms the steps aren't lowering as they should. As can be seen in the last picture the steps on the cabcar operated as they should but the rest of the train was as though it was at a high platform. I'll open a ticket for it and add a post in the tech section.

These pictures were taken at Attleboro and Mansfield.

That's what you get when you try to poke your nose where it doesn't belong =P Haha.

In all seriousness, do you know exactly where you fell through? I'll scope it out and see if it's something in my power to fix.

From Ruggles I walked through the tunnel in the southbound direction of travel between
When you head out following the southbound direction through the tunnel, there is a stripe of slightly different texture at the end you will fall through. Seems to be going through the whole width of the corridor there.

Thank you. I just found the issue...

So the collision for that particular spline is set to NoCollision. I'm setting it to Query Only right now so you should see that in the next update.

EDIT: Just tested. You'll no longer fall through the world :)

By the way, I noticed that the route does not feature any whistle boards before level crossings. Is that prototypical to the real route, it they're just missing from the game, like on LIRR?

This is a relatively small detail, but I thought it was worth mentioning. For hand thrown switches, the target (the red and green banner) should be set up such that the green plate is visible to an oncoming train (perpendicular to track) when the switch is set in the normal position while the red plate is visible instead when the switch is in reverse position. Generally, the normal position is the straight route while the reverse position is for the curving/diverging route. The switch target is not set up in this convention for the image below:
    upload_2021-8-23_20-29-43.jpeg
To make it more accurate with what is usually expected for North American railroads, the green banner should be perpendicular to show that the normal (straight) route is currently lined.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned but I have tried to use the door controls on the Amtrak coaches and it doesn't work that well. I turn the key to low platform then press the open right doors button. Nothing happens, I try to see if the open local door works, it does but the stairs don't lower. I have the same issues when trying to close the doors.
Also on the MBTA coaches I pressed the d-pad button on the move so doors opened when I stopped but I couldn't close them again.

You have to lower the trap door manually.

ACSES on New York never worked well. It was this same or similar bug. They never fixed it.

Worked fine for me are you turning the key all the way there is 2 positions from what i recall one is for high and one for low but if you open using the controller it will automatically open the trap door, it does bug out on some platforms but it worked most of the time for me.

The cab car seems slower. Is this realistic? Maybe because the F40 motors are running in reverse?
Like how I can't really drive my car at 60 mph backwards.
Doesn't break my enjoyment at all. Just curious.

I agree, I think brakes are dragging slightly because the train will decelerate on mild downhill gradients.
No, diesel-electric locomotives function nothing like a regular petrol-powered automobile. Although, there are some similarities to serial hybrids.

    Cheers

I just played a cab car service off the timetable mode and the speed actually seemed fine. Last time I used one I walked down from the locomotive after completing and outbound service. Maybe I just did something wrong up front. Operator error is usually my issue:D

The reason a car can't go as fast backwards is because usually they don't bother having gearing since you should never go backwards at speed in the first place. Trains however do, they can change direction and have the same power settings in both directions, thus can go the same speed in both. Chances are it's more due to gradient than the loco itself, the might be minor speed differences from shoving but it would be small.

Yesterday the same thing happened to me and it seemed to me that the train was actually slowing down because it was losing speed on the Stoughton gradient towards Boston. And indeed, I modified the configuration in the locomotive and then it accelerated correctly.

Let me mention a couple of things that get my attention as I'm driving along, while they're fresh in my mind.

    Passenger density increase: OK
    Passenger diversity: OK
    AI traffic increase: Excellent

However, if this is Boston, which I know quite well, where is the rush hour traffic on the expressways, where are the incessant car horns typical of that city. The cars, trucks and buses should be bumper to bumper, even at mid day, with red tail lights dominating the view.

Don't get me wrong. I'm really enjoying this route, which has a slew of positives.

I will say that the monotonous snowy winter weather is getting to me and is kind of depressing. Where is that bright object in the sky?

Has anyone played enough to get to Spring yet?

Same. i wanted to point this out too. The stop marker should be further so the disabled coach can be used. Its annoying. You can see the last coach being out of the platform if you stop at the marker at the Canton Center station. I also do what you do and pull up further but lose points. I hope they fix it soon. This seems to be a tiny detail but its a substantial detail they overlooked for this route.

You guys keep mentioning the “Disabled Coach” but if you look all the passenger coaches carry a disabled sign. Is this correct or should only one coach be displaying this sticker per rake?

I think he meant the MU2A valve.

  41. What should the position of the MU2A valve be when using the cab car?

Well, i got it today and drive an amtrak service from Providence to Boston, and ACSES make me crawl 2.5 miles before arriving to route 128. No trains ahead...
All in all, the route looks great, and i hope fixes come soon...

Because TSW still needs to work on consoles, I'm guessing it's not possible to have that many objects rendering without tanking frame rate. If this were PC only we'd have far more detail.

Alot has been said in this thread already , so I'll keep it short. After playing this route extensively since it's release and completing the journey I can say the 2 biggest issues for me are:

    - ATC/ACSES / Signalling / Timetable: Many issues related to ATC/ACSES slowing you down unnecessarily in certain areas causing significant timetable delays. Also lack of documentation around the system in general (which is being rectified by Brandon)

    - Southampton St Yard: Tied into the ATC issues, shunting around this area with safety systems enabled is quite literally broken with constant ATC 0 penalty brakes. Also depot services as part of journey mode may end within inaccessible areas and other reports of manual switches outside invisible walls. These need to be resolved before making them available in timetable mode

Apart from the above, I quite enjoyed the route and my time spent on it. Once the above is resolved it will be elevated to a great route. The 2 issues above are significant and need to be resolved asap. The Southampton yard issues in particular halt the progress of the journey Chapter 4 unlesss a dirty workaround is employed

Monder mentioned in the stream last night why the CTC-3 cab car alerter sounds like a nuclear war siren. I immediately found this funny. The first time it went off for me, I thought I’d triggered the self-destruct system by accident. If you haven’t heard it yet, give it a listen. Talk about over dramatic. Fun though :D.

Not sure about other countries but here in the UK we actually use the Star Trek red alert sound on our GSM-R system for when a driver makes an emergency rec call.

I did a double take the first time I heard it when I was training on the system. :D
