    Hi all,

    I currently run TSW2 on PC with a Nvidia 1060 which runs at around 25-30fps on high settings but running on a 4K monitor. (3840 x 2160) I have most of the DLC on PC.

    I have an Xbox Series X too and TSW2 runs at a constant 60fps, which looks blinking lovely! But I don’t have any add ons. (Just the base game)

    I am a bit reluctant to purchase all the add ons again on XSX and I want to stay on PC if possible due to all the fantastic mods the community have created.

    So, the question I have is what GPUs do you have that get a consistent 50-60+ fps on PC?

    Before you ask, I have a decent spec pc, it’s just the graphics card that’s could do with an upgrade! If I can get one lol.

    Thanks in advance.
    Jay

    I have a GTX 770, which ones around 50-60 FPS, depending on the route. I run on Medium Settings at 1080 P

    The 1060 was not really designed for 4K. That was the major selling point of the more common, more powerful, and more expensive GTX 1080 Ti

    However, the game should run fine on 1080P

    Thanks tsgaming#9345 ! I upgraded my monitor last year when I started working from home, just need to upgrade the GPU now ideally. Looking at a 3060 potentially?

    I'm looking in the same direction, to replace my 1070 TI, but I adamantly refuse to pay the exorbitant prices for these cards, upwards of $800 currently.
    I can still run at 50 to 60 fps at 4k with "High" settings.

    nVidia GTX 3070 which came with my current desktop. Run TSW2 without problems though it will still studder at times in places. I have my fps set to unlimited so see rates in the mid to upper 100's most of the time. The desktop has an i9.

    For 4K gaming you would want a 3080 if you want everything at Max / Ultra.

    Going for a 3080Ti or 3090 will get you a 10% / 15% frame rate improvement but it will cost you around 50€ for each 1% at MSRP. People that want this usually do not ask what to buy because they already know they want the best no matter the cost. Period.

    You could do with a 3070 if money is a concern, but you might need to lower the quality a bit in some instances. Anything lower than a 3070 means that you should probably be gaming in a 2K or 1080p monitor instead.

    Please note: There is an nvidia refresh coming at the end of this year. The expected frame rate increase for those "Super" cards is around 10%.

    2080ti, i9 10900 32gb ram
    Everything on ultra and screen % is 165%

    This gives me 55-70fps. It does still microstutter though

    I have a ryzen 5 5600x, radeon rx 6700xt gpu, 32gb ddr4 3600mhz ram.

    Play at 1440p ultra settings and get mostly over 100fps, drops to around 50ish around muncich but well over 60 on all other routes.

    Actually, I can play on Ultra settings at 4k with my 1070 TI, but my fps drops to 30 or 35. Sometimes I'll do that, but mostly I play on High which gives me 50 to 60 fps on 4k. I see very little difference between Ultra and High. My game is on a fast SSD which I think helps quite a bit.

    Well, when it comes to gaming, just be aware that the graphics card is but one part of the equation. You can buy the latest and greatest, but you won't be able to realize its' full potential unless you have a system that can handle everything it can put out. My system's getting on in years now, but it was designed to maximize throughput and minimize bottlenecks, and I built it to last. I've yet to come across anything I can't run at max settings with superb performance.

    CPU: Intel core i7 6700k on an ASUS Maximus VIII board running @ 4.01GHz
    Ram: 32GB Corsair DDR4
    Storage: Samsung 850 EVO SSD
    GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 8GB VRAM
    All liquid cooled
    Monitor: HP Pavilion 32 QHD
    Resolution: 2560x1440 (16:9 aspect ratio)
    TSW2 video settings: Highest available across the board. Runs 60fps all day long.

    Hope this helps you!

    All this proves what I've said ad nauseam on the forum. There is an almost infinite spectrum of hardware combinations playing this game. It's like fingerprints or DNA, no two are alike, especially with PC's. So DtG can write their 7 versions of the game, but people within each platform will still have different mileage.

    My specs are barely above minimum, as I have a i5-6400 and a 950. But if performance wise the game is fine for me. It looks good and performs well enough.

    This week I've taken delivery of a laptop with a i7-10750 and a 3060, and I look forward to seeing the improvement.

    i3-9100f, RX580 8GB. Running maxed out at 1440p/2K, getting anywhere between high 30s to 60fps, depending on route and location. Currently buying parts for a new PC as I built my current one on a budget. It's going to have a Ryzen 7 5800x, and when I can afford one, an RTX 3080. I have a 4K monitor and want to play all my games maxed out at that resolution, with a steady 60fps

    True. And not only that, hardly any two players are playing the game in the same way. Some people like scenarios, some timetable; some like collectables, others couldn't care less. And they'll differ on what constitutes 'adequate' performance. I like to play in Ultra at 4k, but I don't get hung up about trying to achieve 3-figure frame rates.

    (I've got the same card (2070) as Rudy, but my frame rates are slightly lower as my CPU (i7 4790K) is old and tired :()

    RTX3090
    i7 9700k @ 4.5Ghz

    54 - 165 fps @ 3840x1600 Ultra with the following tweaks:

    Code:
    [SystemSettings]
    r.MaxAnisotropy=16
    foliage.LODDistanceScale=5
    r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.25
    r.TextureStreaming=0
    r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1
    r.ViewDistanceScale=8
    r.LandscapeLOD0DistributionScale=3
    r.LandscapeLODDistributionScale=3
    r.HighQualityLightMaps=1
    To be honest performance is very much route dependent with Hauptstrecke München been the most punishing seeing dips into the mid 50s. On other routes with far less track and rolling stock like Cathcart Circle 100 + FPS is very easy to achieve. That said there is no way in the world I would recommend a 3070/80/90 for TSW alone. Really what these higher end cards offer is been able to run items like foliage LOD and ViewDistanceScale at some silly settings without any real noticeable impact.

    To be honest my old 1080ti used to achieve 90 + fps without much fuss so equivalent performance in todays market is a good place to hedge your bets, so a 3060ti would be right on the mark only issue is current prices make these cards less attractive.

    I9-11900K with 3090 does something like this:

    My previous card was a 2080Ti, didn't do bad either.

    The 3060Ti is a lovely card, for it's half the price of a 3080ti..

    With a Ryzen 7-3600x, 3060ti and TSW on a M.2 SSD I get 40-60fps (my TV caps it there due to the 60hz refresh rate) at 4K on ultra settings + tree foliage X5 in the engine.ini. It's nice and smooth, apart from the odd short tile load stutter.

    Mine is a laptop. Configuration is I7-10700K 32g 3200MHz, and the GPU is 2070Super.
    Play at 1080p ultra settings with 120% screen percentage. I limit the fps at 72fps and the average usage of my GPU is 45%

    AMD RX5700 here running the game on Ultra @ 1080p without any issues.I bet i could run it in 4k but its useless with my monitor. Works perfectly in DX11 and DX12 but you wont get any custom livery (the ones installed with livery manager not that came with the game) to show up properly unless you do some further tweaking and run the game on Vulkan api.

    Shows the RAM doesn’t make much difference as I get similar performance on a i7- 9750h with 8gb ram and a 1660ti ( pretty much a rock solid 60fps at 1080.

    I have a few Engine.ini tweaks that hinder performance, most notable foliage draw distance, but I keep my frames capped at 90FPS which works most of the time. Exceptions include large hubs and terminals, where it can drop to at low as 55FPS (or 40FPS in the case of München). I currently use DX12 but I may give DX11 a try to see how it's improved.

    Cheers

    The game renders it at a larger size and then scales it back to fit the screen. It's supposed to help with anti-aliasing artefacts, but if you run a 1920x1080 screen at 200%, you'll get the same frame rate as if you ran in 4k at 100%.

    Like this:
    1. Download the zip from https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/download/v1.8.1/dxvk-1.8.1.tar.gz
    2. Open the file with 7zip and navigate trough the folders inside the X64 folder (d3d files should be visible)
    3. Extract all those files somewhere for easy access
    4. Navigate to the TSW Binaries / Win64 with the executable inside path bellow
    steamapps\common\Train Sim World 2\WindowsNoEditor\TS2Prototype\Binaries\Win64
    5. Paste all files you have already extracted to that location inside Bin64
    I don't remember if you need to set the -dx12 game command in steam but it shouldn't matter much since the librabry supports DX11 , DX12 and i think even DX9.

    No problem. I didnt try the Vulkan recently but i know performance on AMD was between DX12 and DX11 with stutter on routes that did not like DX12 render

    RTX3080 everything maxed out running in 4k, i9 CPU overclocked and fps limited to 60; since the 4.26 update it is significantly better performance-wise and east coast way is a joy to drive without the trees popping into focus anymore!

    I had a 1080Ti and must say what a good card it is. I have 32GB Ram on an i7 7700k CPU. And using the Asus ROG Swift 2k monitor at 165hz, also good IMO.
    I have however upgraded to a 3060 TI (Installed but not set up) and have the Gigabyte M28U monitor coming hopefully later this week. I used to suffer from micro stutters until I had an edited Engine.ini and hopefully I will see a major difference. Have a spare 1080Ti now, lol.
