Looks like myself, Craigie-C or Blacknred81 have a good chance of winning this week LOL. Come on guys upload your offerings, the deadline is fast approaching.
It's a perfectly fine set of pictures. I don't have anything matching, mostly because I'm not a big steam fan. Many people clearly prefer a single region, and US folks might be in trouble with this one. The only place I can come up with off the top of my head is the NEC (NJCL for quality), with a GG1 meeting a K1. Although I've seen electrified Marias Pass, I think. And payware Trainz. I'm a bit results (feedback) motivated and I never even got mentioned in any of these topics, so I stopped caring. I follow them for impulses and inspiration, I really like Ardaeshir's artistic reworks. My likes given/received ratio is 4.5. There is a subset of people passing the trophy, so I guess some have lost interest. There are so many screenshot threads. All of my Steam acquaintances moved on to TSW. Except one I added recently, he has beautiful shots of UK 3rd party. I don't know whether people are on holidays between pandemic waves or else, but the generic shot thread is a bit abandoned as well, and my latest post only got a single like of appreciation by steammaster, who likes almost everything diligently. I suppose there is something with my shots that you guys don't enjoy? I would appreciate if some would tell me privately, if so, even negatively but especially constructively. (I was considering to post it sometime somewhere, so here and now it is.)
I get where you are coming from but this thread has no limitations, your shot does not need to be factually accurate, you could have a UP Big Boy or UP Challenger meeting an Amtrak ACS-64 in any location in the world no problem. That is the why this thread was set up, the rules are - There are no rules. Please continue to contribute and share your shots, not everybody is fluent with their likes but that does not mean they don't enjoy seeing your offerings. End result is:- "If You Aint In - You Aint Gonna Win" Totally with you on this one. Which is why I posted my original post. Currently there are only 3 contenders for this week. If we can encourage more people to enter it will hopefully increase interest and contribution.
Why not use Quick Drive / Standard / Career scenarios? e.g. This weeks theme screams Woodhead Line. Class 76 & Steam
Don't do many scenarios with steam so can't really post many pictures for this one. Only this one below with the steam in the background. 86259 has just arrived at Blackpool North with 1Z86 07:10 London Euston-Blackpool North. 45690 can (just about) be seen on the rear and will soon leave with 1Z87 14:04 Blackpool North-Hellifield Goods Loop.

You can totally enter with official stuff. The main point is not to be limited. That's all. In the official threads, if you have as much as a weather mod, you're disqualified. Or if you post some content that has been removed / region locked. As for scenario editing, I usually encourage people to dabble with free roam scenarios a little. Basically, all you have to do is place some trains and add the driver to those you want to be able to move. Over time you can improve them by adding instructions, so that trains move about. As potential encouragement, while I also don't like to spend hours on end to set up a functional timetable, I like to drive custom trains around, or taking my own path, or the ability to stop at more stations. I may add 1-2-3 oncoming trains but whatever. For me it's easier to build a consist in the world as opposed to the consist editor, which above a certain amount of DLC is terribly slow.
I could fully explain (describe, rather) but I don't want to ruffle any feathers, I'd rather not. (I did think the answer through and ... it's complicated. Either I write a massive essay or some people will misunderstand.) Anyway, this is off. I was just trying to list a bunch of ideas why people may participate less, the "off my chest" part was really just the last paragraph about sharing weekly screenshot selections (as I'm tryhard jurying them), albeit it teaches me a lot retrospectively.
Ok, here is entry 01, a rainy day at the Colliery: I made a snowy version, but I feel it is less "atmospheric", so its not part of the entry: Spoiler
I like that route. It isn't perfect and could really use nicer and better placed foliage, but I still like the landscape and the gradient shifts.
Route: Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways Loco: Corris No. 9 'Aberleffeni', FR 'Britomart' Movement of a saloon coach into the Works along the cob.
Entry 02: 63607 is heading for the workshop under its own steam, to be restored for use on a heritage railway.
there are a number of reason why people don't participate, you did mention a few, such as people not having content to match a theme, or even like me, school is starting, so that will really restrict my participation.
This submission may be pushing it for this week's theme Anyway, a SW1500 diesel-electric locomotive passes under electrical wires, and past a derelict coaling tower left over from the days of steam
Alright, sorry for the late response. Been very busy. In 3rd place we have JGRudnick with this beautiful shot. Thinking right outside the box there and I love it.In 2nd place we have Craigie-C with a favourite of mine. LMS Jubilee on a tour on Woodhead (10 years after its closer but shhhh) with 303s. Great shot mate. And last but not least we have 1st place going to... Blacknred81! I'm not a fan of American stuff but this shot is fantastic! I love the loco choice and the backdrop. Everything about it.Alright, I hand the reins over to Blacknred81! Really loved this one. Great job from everyone and very tough to choose! See you next week! (hopefully)
Interesting that I ended up winning this week. However, I'm gonna need someone else to take up setting up next weeks contest, I'm had my laptop go out earlier this week, and I don't trust my other PC.
I can set it up, no worries. Its here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-competition-week-23-3rd-party-content.44713/ Just wondering if there's any theme you'd want Blacknred81. Let me know, otherwise I'll keep it "Freestyle" as an interrim solution.
