ok, so I was driving one of the commuter german trains (tbh I can't recall which, but they all seem to have similar control layouts) where I accidentally hit emergency stop. I could not get going again. I tried everything (well obviously not unless a bug) and ended up resetting. I've reviewed Matt's braking tutorial (Manual and self-lapping an inexplicable highlight) and nothing there that addresses this. is there any obvious things to do ?

Just release brakes and wait until the brake resevoir is at 0.

Some trains (mostly multiple units, have a anti-roll back system, when you are 0, the brakes are still applied to prevent rolling, so maybe you are driving a MU and the brake stays around 2.2. It's because of the anti-roll back system, so you can always apply power when when the system is active.

I’ll check later but as I recall I was getting the white zero for power but when I applied throttle the zero turned red with a double down arrow underneath- is that the ant roll back?

Then you tripped something, maybe you accidentally opened the doors.
