For stations like Hagen and Brighton that will have 2 routes, Sam and Matt have talked about portals.
How about a room in the station, a waiting room e.g. that you could walk into and close the door.
When you tried to leave an option list would come up asking you which route you want. If you only owned one of the routes, you would only have one option.

Sorry if this has been suggested before.
    Cheers

That is a really well thought out way of doing it. Hope it becomes reality.

Assuming you are already in one of the two routes when you enter the waiting room, simply entering the waiting room and sitting down could automatically change to the other route, or in cases where there are more than two routes sharing a station, there would be a different seat to sit in for each selectable route. As you sit, the new route loads in the background and when you leave the waiting room you are at the same time of day as you were in the route you started but in your newly selected timetable.

Any system has to completely bypass the menu so it would be a timetable only feature of course. A “Sit here for RSN services” or similar would eliminate having to actively make a menu-like choice too.

All excellent suggestions. Not sure how easy or otherwise it could be. To take it further, there could be a TV in the waiting room where you could watch tutorials and guides like Matt's German safety systems video ha ha.

Excellent idea! It should be called the "Break Room" for all the hardcore roleplaying people!! So they can get off their train and have to take a break to explain away any inconsistencies in the timetables between the two conjoined routes.

Or maybe if you only had one of the routes then the waiting room wouldn’t appear.

As a driver, I was based at a depot, we had link working with diagrams.
Instead of a waiting room, we could be based at a depot, have diagrammed workings where we would have trains to work throughout the shift.
This might work better than a waiting room or just working to a time table!
    What do you think?

Could make it a toilet. When you enter a cubicle for a poo it gives you the option. Perhaps a newspaper appears as if you are reading it on the loo and you can select a route from the newspaper and when the route loads in, you hear the toilet flush and away you go.

You could add Paddington to that list. Have portal on an escalator that switches you between the main station and the underground station.

How about getting off the train at any airport station like Gatwick to change countries even, Bit far fetched but it wouldn't be impossible.

Or launch MSFS through that action .;)

Just kidding sounds like a neat extension to that suggestion, although we don't have to many airport stations currently. AFAIK currently we have stations at the following airports: San Francisco (Millbrae Station), San Jose (Santa Clara Station), Teesside and soon to come Gatwick.

Yes the Paddington one would be good. If we had the Circle line (could actually use the high level lines at Paddington). The you could drive Reading - Paddington, Paddington - Victoria, Victoria - Brighton, Brighton - Eastbourne.
