Mainly making this thread for anyone to post any news or project updates from various sources of upcoming 3rd party developers that may be coming to Steam in the future.

1st is DTM, which has started working on their next Locomotive DLC, which is an EMD BL-2, the railroad that these locos will come in is Western Maryland paint. Also interesting is that DTM will include other locos in this pack, being their already released GE-44 Tonner and FA2 but in WM colors.

Milepost simulations have also posted a sneak peek at their next route they are making, however the photo is too generic to really make any guesses on where the route may be located.....they expect it to be released late 2021 or early 2022.
    soon (1).jpg

Also, Searchlight Simulations have made some changes in their plans for the AC44's, as they recently put up a poll for the next one, which had a choice of UP,CSX or BNSF.

Union Pacific was the winner, and looks like it will be released on their store 1st, before being brought over to Steam, like the CP version was.

Well UP made sense as the next one, since they have over 1000 of them, CSX is the next largest owner with around 600 iirc.

Only thing is they are doing one version of them, the as they put it, the Phase 2 C's versions, which are apparently #5554-5694, #5914-#5981, and #5982-#6014.

They also have no plans to do any CNW or SP version, till all current Class 1's are covered (CP,UP,CSX and BNSF, no word on KCS)

Travel By Trains work on their SD70ACU, no word on if it will come to Steam or not.

Travel By Train MRL SD40 in production. This will most likely be in their store only.

DTMs next loco after the BL2 is the SD45-2, in a CSX pack that will include predecessor names as well, they previewed the based model today.

DTM did do a SD45-2 a few years ago in a Santa Fe paint scheme, but that model isn't available worldwide due to the BNSF licensing issue.

Also I believe he lost it in a hard drive crash, so he couldn't use it as a base for this one, so it's effectively a new project for him.

TLS has a new NS loco coming to TS, I'd expect a live article to go up at a later date.

The SD70ACu would make sense as it's new for virtually everyone. Old and restricted DLC aside, all I know about CP in TS is GE.
Not to mention the liveries are nice.

Vote is a vote, but I think CSX AC44 would be better. UP is covered head to toe, I own 19 DLC for Sherman Hill alone, and I missed all the old stuff, plus the US assets (F7), plus Cajon. Saying that, it makes sense, for the newer routes. But CSX could use a bit of extra coverage. Even without explicit route coverage, just hire Gary for a versatile scenario pack spanning all routes (Miami to NEC)

The NS SD70M looks a bit weird, maybe just cab lights - but details aside, Coal District, noooooooo. Pretty route for photographibg but so one dimensional. I think we could use a Battle for Horseshoe Curve, a redux version with a few fixes and object swaps, can even keep 4th track, bundled with a few NS DLC and a scenario collection.

    Dream time over :)

Some of DTM's work on their SD45-2 pack, alot of different schemes from CSX's past, also the pack will feature a transfer caboose, a 1st for TS.

Used to transfer cars from one yard to another (Railroad by Railroad), and is mostly used on short local runs.

Sorry to jump in this thread, but i am not familiar with the US websites for TS, and i need help on finding scenarios for the North Jersey Coast Line. I find the scenarios on the steam workshop very confusing and innacurate... Any kind of help will be very much appreciated!

Like I said on the TSC discord, without the logo it's just not worth it, community patch can take care of it though. I still wished that they could've maybe done some negotiations with Conrail, then we could have things like a new Dash 8-40CW in Conrail spec.

So, they're doing the whole East Coast family of the SD45-2s, interesting.
Though, they should've just ended with the SBD tree, IMO. Not worth seeing the unbranded CR blues at this point, even if people wanted to see more Conrail equipment for TS1 (same with EL too, officially).

I think this was a request I made. I originally asked about the Clinchfield one given the 2021 route inclusion, and we found that CSX owns the brand. Conrail is under them, too. So between CSX brands and the BNSF, that is all SD45-2 covered. We just need a BNSF skin on one of the new ones now for the people who cannot get it (it is a brand new model, so the other is outdated). Though I did also suggest putting the BNSF one on Travel by Train’s site.

Except for Norfolk Southern having, like, 6 of them in their roster (even one of them is in the EL heritage livery, still operational too) from CRs equipment split. But other than that, pretty much covers the full CSX family tree (past to present) with the SD45-2s for this pack.
(and after seeing their post with "Only one more to go." Definitely gonna be an NS livery as well in this pack)

Neat. I should send them a message thanking them and see if they want a scenario played to promote it or something. Maybe I can run one of the new liveries on their BNSF scenarios if they supply those for the purpose (they used Cajon, which is on my video release list already).

If they're gonna make an NS variant, then I expect there to be cab signals, as evident by this picture of 1703.
http://www.nsdash9.com/images/NS1703ek2.jpg (The small box just in front of the driver window)
If it could also work within the existing cab signal scripts of the Washington to Baltimore signals that would also be awesome.

Well, at least I did say the full CSX family tree (Still should've left out the Conrail & EL units, honestly). Now to see what the rest of the rolling stock is gonna be like.

I think he basically included them because people would have turned around and made them anyway, and scenarios made with versions at, say, RWA would not be able to get airtime with DTG as a Workshop entry. This clears that hurdle and puts all SD45s in the game.

Now we need a BNSF skin over one of these models for worldwide players. It's a new model compared to the old BNSF anyway, so that would not be a bad idea for freeware skin designers. LOL

Your only true hurdle is specs, in which southwestern American railroads have very different specifications from the east, usually regarding horn type and placement, bell type and placement, headlight placement, presence of an illuminated warning device (beacon, strobes, gyra, oscitrol, or mars light) and their placement, air conditioner, radio, marker lights, plows (if so equipped), dynamic brakes (if so equipped), etc... It can even come to down to trucks, as in the case of the second gen era when some GE 4-axle locomotives (notably for SCL and SS) came equipped with EMD Blomberg trucks from F unit and geep trade ins. Other railroads received geeps on AAR-B trucks from retired Alcos and minority builders like BLH and maybe FM.

An ATSF SD45-2 compared to a Seaboard one, lots of differences.
So for some of these reasons people might not be as inclined to make one, as it wouldn't be truly close to the prototype, though sometimes you have no choice. For my PC U33C I had to deal with the inevitable reality that I couldn't get rid of the plow. Maybe someone will find the opportunity to make a nice ATSF SD45-2 with child objects and ability to script out nodes (in the past DTM has been good about this).

Now that I think about it, isn't this technically the first Conrail/EL locomotive for Steam? I'm sure Minerman is excited, shame about the logos though.

Besides the Conrail Heritage livery from NS's Gevo Pack (and there was also a mention of an unbranded EL U34CH for the marketplace, correct me if I'm wrong there). But pretty sure, this will be the first time seeing an unbranded Conrail/EL locos on steam together, yes. Shame it has to be as is too.

Looking really solid so far, both by DTM and general TS standards. If they release it with all these liveries and variations included by default I see some really great value (as long as the physics and sounds are good and they aren't glitchy).

Looks like DTM has been busy since last Thursday (at least there's been improvements):
    244788806_2980212508863290_5691297365860182562_n.jpg
As well as including a 60ft Hi-cube in two different liveries this week:

The key is that the unbranded ELs get into game for workshop. DTG is still in possession of the EL-NJDOT U34CH apparently waiting for NS approval for the past 18 months. Yeah a year and a half. If they DTG would just reject it DTM could release as unbranded. I have to say DTM improves its work with each release and I refer to to the use of alpha and weathering. The man listenes to the community.

Where US steam locos all articulated? Given Smokeboxes current fixation you would think so. It would be nice to have some well modelled conventionals too.

Not all US steam locos. The Big Boy and Challenger were the known steam titans UP has got. And Smokebox has done the FEF-3 (which is a 4-8-4) and an AT&N 2-8-0 in the past (not to mention Union Pacific and Central Pacific locos from the 1860s).

DTM has updated the Seadboard Boxcar, and added open deck 85ft flatcars with trash containers.

The new Milepost Simulations route is Southern Pacific Cascades set before 1991. The first teaser photo is the Cantara loop bridge.[IMG]
(sorry bad angle, this is the closest I could find)
The newer one, I don't know an exact location, but with some light research it seems to be in between Weed and Klamath Falls. If the route goes from Dunsmuir to Klamath, it would be 100 miles long, so about right for Milepost's current route length.

You may be right, I just checked their site again, and they updated their preview photo of the route....

Those are definitely Espee Tunnel Motors, and that looks like Mt Shasta in the background.

Lit. Hopefully this new route isn't as mind-numbingly boring as Donner Pass. Will be disappointing if they reuse a loco from 2012 though.

    You talking about this? :https://www.mapleleaftracks.com/Store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=54

That route looks like its set in Oregon only, while Mileposts route seems to be set around Northern California.

I think the actual route is roughly the Shasta Division area. 0:51 looks like the Cantara Loop.
