The cathcart circle is a really good dlc, but it feels a bit empty, especially coming in and out of glasgow central, this is an idea on how DTG could add something like a loco dlc or an expansion to the route. I have made up a concept of what could be included •class 380/0 and 380/1, an EMU part of the desiro family of trains, the class 380 usually runs on the pollokshields west side of the route from glasgow central to newton and neilston, they also operate the Ayrshire coastline, and the gourock-glasgow routes. •class 320/3, another EMU that operates with abellio scotrail, they run on the cathcart circle line, and the newton and neilston branch same as the 314, the class 320 also operates the Inverclyde and paisley canal routes. •potential route expansion, this isn't as likely as a loco DLC, potential route ad-ons could include the glasgow-paisley canal line, or the glasgow central-lanark routes, these would likely fit with the route because of the size of the routes, •less likely stuff, the class 318 EMU is another potential addition, though less likely due to similarities in appearance with the 314 and 320's the class 385 is another train that operates these routes, though is unlikely due to the era the DLC takes place being 2017 ish, with the 385's only entering service in 2018.
I hate to always be the one shooting down loco DLCs for my favourite route - the only one in my homeland, but they should not make these locos as DLCs. Firstly, when the route was first announced, it was said the route was in 2014, in the first era - without first branding. If that is still the case or not? Unknown. The game says 2017 but the game isn't always accurate when it comes to this, we see this plenty. Provided the route is in 2014, then DLC shouldn't even be thought of. In 2014, the Class 314 was virtually the only loco on the line, with the 380 running very limited peak services (Circle Only) As of 2016's timetables (the last one before the alternate setting of 2017), the 314 was beginning to see more action in Inverclyde, as the 380 was being used for driver training on Edinburgh - Glasgow, and the 320 came to the Cathcart Circle to cover for the 314. Despite this, The Class 314 remained dominant, continuing to do things such as Specials for Scotland Games, Branch Services and the bulk of Circle Services. Now i'll look at it train by train: - Class 380 Far, Far better suited to Ayrshire Coast or Inverclyde Lines and just layer back. It would be a waste of a train on Cathcart. - Class 318/320 Both are very similar to each other, and also to the 314 in the "feeling" of them, from my perspective as a regular user of ScotRail. I was on both last Saturday, they are very similar to what the 314s were. - Class 385 No chance. Doesn't even exist at this point. Save it for Edinburgh - Glasgow. Finally, I totally agree that Glasgow Central is dead. when I was there last week i spotted plenty of trains, across different types, and three different operators. However, ScotRail's network would be better off in a German-style substitution set-up, as that's how it works here, especially on the Suburban Network. So, my opinion, to finish: Sorry, no.
My opinion: 2017 with a higher variety of trains is more impressive than a 2014 with class 314 only. So yea, devs should really look into this suggestion.
