Anyone know what has happened to this? It seems to have disappeared. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=754506860
Great question. I was wondering myself a couple of days ago and forgot to ask here. It is gone from the workshop and I cannot find it existing for download on any other site.
Conversion to a payware route maybe? Some of the assets used were from WCML Trent Valley, so possibly under Thomson Interactive/Rivet Games' partner program thing like Suburban Glasgow?
this one? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2383971504&searchtext=great+eastern+mainline
Have a look on the site - it lists them on the right hand side of the picture The Metropolitan Line: Aldgate - Uxbridge & Amersham Route Add-On might be just for where the LT meets the route
It is a bit unclear though. Under Routes it lists The Metropolitan Line, GEML, and Wherry Lines. But then under tags it lists ECML, South London Lines, and WCML Trent Valley.
From what I remember from the original; GEML as the base route WCML TV for OHLE and lineside assets ECMLS for OHLE assets South London Network for track and lineside assets Wherry lines for Norwich station model Met line might just have shown up by accident- random routes flag up sometimes due to a problem with the tag system. The original didn't need this.
Having clicked on Subscribe the route only appears in my Workshop section and I cannot edit the route There does not seem to be any scenarios to play and there is talk if the person who uploaded it had permission from the Author
This one sentence in the description gives that impression (to me that sounds like they may not have permission) "This was reuploaded as it was still used by many and should not have been removed."
The original route was never marked as "finished" which is why it can't be edited I think. There are quite a few scenarios available online but they all invariably requires several Armstrong Powerhouse assets that I don't own I too am very suspicious as to whether they had permission to upload this.
So you don't have it as an installed route? Seems to here.... In fact the opposite of here. I see it as a route in the main menu... but no sign of it in my workshop routes. Weird.
I will have a look in the Quick Drive menu - never thought of that Does it appear in the Build Menu / routes? Peter
Will check.... back in a bit.. just having a late lunch.... been busy today. Will edit this post to let you know. [edit] yes... it's in there too... Sorry.. meant to circle both GEML routes... didn't realise I'd circled the wrong ones until I uploaded the pic... but you can still see both are there... both original and workshop versions.
Sounds like you're planning to create a scenario for it, Peter. Be a mate and share when you're done would you?
Thanks - I found it today myself and gave it a QD from Norwich to Ipswich with an AP 86 Quite good if a bit plain. but I'm not intending to create any scenarios for it - I just wondered what was there.
I'be no idea why they bother. The chances of people having all that are slim to none. I've got a LOT of stuff and and I'm nowhere near.
Just 48 requirements, Peter I wonder if that’s a record? I can’t imagine the effort and expense required for scenarios such as this. People want them for the tasks, not to have to install dozens of things just to do it.
I challenge that. Yes, a lot of freeware here, but that's not the point. I think there's something like 80+ items needed for just running this route. And even more for other routes.
It's not the cost that puts me off. In fact, the ones with about 50 freeware requirements that are the most annoying. Needing 7 AP trains, and a couple of JT routes is fine if you ask me, as eventually buying those is worth it in itself. When you get a massive list of freeware requirements though, I can't even remember what I have and what I don't. I was going to download a scenario the other day and realised that I have no idea what I do and don't have any more. It required a Anglia ONE 47 reskin, and upon hunting it down and trying to install it, realised I already had it LOL. I get this a LOT. Seriously, once you've installed several hundred reskins, you just cannot remember what you do, or do not have and reading a list of asset requirements becomes pointless. You end up spending so much time on tracking down and installing stuff you may or may not even already have, that you may as well just create your own scenarios. There's just no need for this massive shopping list of freeware requirements... it's silly.. especially when some are just ridiculous, like an obscure tanker wagon from some unheard of website, without a link to even find it, so you end up on Google for 10 minutes tracking it down... and after that, it turns out it's just something that flies past at 70mph for a fraction of a second... blink and you miss it. In most instances, you could have used any wagon from a DTG route that most people have and no one woudl have even noticed. It's just people being stupid... or thinking they're showing off. All they're doing is making their scenarios and routes unpopular.
Yes, think if it was a decent collection of scenarios, I’d rather pay £5-10 and get everything I need in one download, without hours faffing about trying to locate and install freeware. I have a question: all these freeware items on UKTS, can’t they just be included with freeware scenarios/routes? (Realise they can’t be included in paid items.) You’d need to devote a week to making a massive spreadsheet of your installations I’ve only installed two freeware routes so far: Speyside and Northern Lines: at least Speyside had clickable links to the half dozen or so freeware items needed on UKTS, etc; NL didn’t. It was easier to locate UKTS items via search engine, than using UKTS’s own. I wonder, if it’s a good scenario, taskwise, can TS Tools or something extract that core element, allowing you to build up your own version, leaving the dozens of other requirements behind? Indeed, I look at some scenarios, and think why on earth have they got this listed? There was an interesting Scottish one I saw, but it had an A4 steam loco as a requirement for a heritage excursion that was just going to fly past! Surely first point of call should be the common items in everyone’s TS, that you can swap if you want. It’s like buying TS, then finding you have to spend hours tracking down and possibly paying for trains and rolling stock to use it.
I don't mind ordinarily, as I'd rather scenarios used believable liveries etc, but it's when people go to great lengths to include the exactly type of obscure freight wagon etc... why? Unless you're sat net to it at a station, you're not even going to notice. Half of these scenarios with a list of around 30 freeware things could easily be halved and the scenario woudl still be absolutely fine.
It is a big list but you would not have every add-on in every scenario. Just what is required to run all of them.
I totally agree with you - Shock - You have the player train which you would want to be correct but the rest is what I call eye candy. The other trains might only be in a siding or wizz past at speed so as long as it is something like it should be does it need to be the AP version of something rather than the default DTG version
No kidding. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to update my spreadsheet... You know your site has a problem when Google does a better job. Isn't that how it already works?
Glad you said it, not me! At least if you buy TS (deluxe) you get a good selection of routes and trains to keep you busy.
I see, I see. It makes sense, the original author deleted it for reasons unknown. Possibly being commercialized, perhaps?
Well, yes. If you HAVE the route downloaded before it left the Workshop, you will still have it. However, if you wwere to install on a new computer, the fact that the item is gone from the Workshop means you'll have a Workshop item eternally refusing to download. That would mean you have lost the route. I spoke to someone who has it. Was able to get a copy. Since, as I said, it stays installed even after unsubscribing, so no one ever loses it. I should try to get the rest of the Suburban Glasgow route this way, in fact.
Alan Thomson just said on stream that an updated version of this route will be coming to the ATS website at some point, which explains why it got pulled from the workshop.
Anymore news on this? Would love to try this extension at some point, but just ashame i cant download it!
They should of left the original version of the route up on the Workshop until the ATS version is ready.
Don't think that was possible unfortunately. They don't work together so couldn't have timed it so as one left the ATS released. Also I believe it had to be taken down.
If it's turning into payware, or subware with enhancements, I can't see how that would have helped their efforts. Of course, those of us with the original route just laugh because we can continue to drive the one we have. I am fairly sure that one will still make the rounds for free, too, so trying to turn it into payware is really not going to work out well.
Hi I feel I need to clear this myth up ATS is working on an updated Liverpool street-Norwich this has ZERO connection to the Traction depot version we are not involved and never have been involved with traction depot in any way cheers Alan Thomson
