The last DLC I paid full price for is this:Southern Pacific U33C Loco Add-On https://store.steampowered.com/app/...n/?curator_clanid=958135&curator_listid=43424 I really wanted it but after I have not bought anything more.
No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy DLC... YES, it can be expensive but as dudleybrooke says & as I do, wait for a sale... better still, a Humble Bundle deal (but they're only once a year though...!!!) Patience is a virtue...!!! Eric
Just remenber this a business and they have to make money to pay developers "personal" who work 8 hours a day and make at least a profit, im telling for sure i wouldn't work for free in life so yes thats that, another tip is shop around always websites out there with reduce prices in DLC you can pick them up for 50% off some at 75% and SteamShop as a sale at the moment so grab while it lasts quite a few good deal
Have you not heard of a Sale? Most people don't buy something at full price unless they really want it
Yes I have heard about sale but the DLCs I want are never on sale or they are still too expensive and also about the BNSF I am never going buy them on full price as they are an incomplete DLC even that I want them. And I am not using any third party stuff as you can never know if they are safe or not. I waited to buy the Hi Montana or what the name is until they were on 30% sale. Still waiting for DTG to bring the BNSF logo back.
I think you fail to appreciate the work that goes into them. It's not up to DTG, it's up to BNSF. There's nothing DTG can do.
It is not normal a DLC shall cost more than the whole game! Then I think DTG should remove everything which as to do with BNSF(Including the paint)!
You'll be waiting a long time! However, there are usually some 3rd party patches which promptly supply the branding for free after the release of an unbranded route. For me, a large part of playing trains with TS20xx is experiencing the ROUTE itself, even if the locomotives were all in grey primer! To say that DTG should remove everything to do with BNSF (which by implication includes their ROUTES) is doing the community as a whole a great disservice IMHO!
We do not really need BNSF in game at all when we have Union Pacific as that company is really big. And we also have CSX,Southern Pacific and Norfolk Southern. And there are a lot of other companies which could replace BNSF. Just look on this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_carrier_freight_railroads_in_the_United_States
Do you think DTG DLC is expensive then have a look at this PMDG DC-6 for MSFS - PMDG Simulations LLC the price is US Dollars about $100 NZ. You could buy a few groceries with that amount.
One person's expensive is another person's bargain. I have no idea how old the OP is, but if he is an adult then a family night out at a restaurant would I suggest get him a ton of DLC if he decides to forego said night out, horses for courses.
A cursory glance on google will find multiple DLC at reduced prices and its possible to grab a handful of older routes for the same price as a new one, then theres a ton of payware by 3rd developers at a fraction of the price not to mention a ton of freeware. Like any hobby theres plenty of content to suit any budget. If you cant justify the price of the brand new releases go for the older stuff which is still extremely playable and enjoyable.
Sad thing is, even if the DLC were priced at $5 you would still get people complaining. These things cost money to make. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. I would love to own a Ferrari... but you don't see me online complaining that the price is too high as if these gripes will somehow magically cause the company to cut prices. There are SO many sales that you really don't have to pay full price unless it is something you really can't wait to get your hands on. I have bought several routes on release day, and several more during sales. I think the DLCs, even at full price, is a good bang for the buck. Compare that to the cost of a meal or a few drinks at the pub.
At the end of the day, they can sell the DLC at whatever price they want. If you want to buy it at the price, do. If not don’t. If enough people don’t buy it at the asking price then they know they are pricing it too high and will either reduce the price or go bust. It is business sense that they will sell at the price that people are prepared to pay. As other have pointed out, you can always wait for a sale, of which there are many.
Why they should not be safe??? As other´s said earlier. Steam has often some Sales with reduced TS-DLC (maybe more on DTG own stuff than 3rd, but they are too), and I would say the DLC are more often in sales than sme years before. If that prices still are to high, than sorry I must say: If it´s too expensive than there´s a easy way to get 100%off: don´t play TS (or any other game).
Any way why did you make another post regarding the same issue if you have already created another one here https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/prices-on-dlc-routes-how-are-they-thinking.44894/
Because that thread didn't go the way he wanted, and since this one isn't either then expect another new one any time soon.
