I’m finding the AFB on the 112 doesn’t cut the throttle out fast enough when approaching the selected speed. On MSB, the locomotive far exceeded the speed limit on several occasions as the power was not reduced in time, the regen brakes also seemed to take too long to kick in meaning I remained over the speed limit for too long. I don’t know if this is supposed to happen, but reporting it just in case.

The overspeed is prototypical on shorter trains with a high setting on the force/Zugkraft selector. Regarding the dynamic brakes, this is not prototypical.

What would be the recommended setting on the force selector for a shorter train?

BR 112 has problems not only with AFB. Needs some repairs :|

I use Hilfssteuerung (AFB to "On" and then use auxiliary control to notch up) when accelerating to low speed limits (40-60 km/h) when starting from a standstill. I usually try to keep deceleration below 0.8 m/s^2 (just for my own preference) which will probably mean 35-40 kN/FM on a 200 tonne train or 50 kN/FM on a 300 tonne train.

For a higher speed limit I max out the AFB and then when passing through 40 km/h I roll it back to the speed limit. I will have reduced the Zugkraft to keep the kN/FM I described above.

Keeping a specific acceleration is optional and a personal preference. For example a driver I have been in contact with would just max out the acceleration due to his strict timetable, but he would still use Hilfssteuerung for small speed limits.
