I've been wondering for a long time why there are no mechanical catenary compensation systems in the game. For those who do not know what the mechanical compensation system for the catenary is, it is a method so that the catenary is always tense, in the face of possible changes that may arise in the overhead line with changes in temperature. For example, on a hot day, the long cables that make up the catenaries tend to expand, thus increasing their length. The purpose of the mechanical catenary voltage regulation system is simple. Although there are other types of design with different mechanisms, this is the most common way to see them in Germany. My complaint is this, why are these counterbalance systems not in the game? On the royal routes, those counterweights are there. They are also on the TS routes, maybe they are not on TSW because of a performance issue? To improve fluency? Or because it would take a lot of work to represent it? From my point of view, implementing these systems in the game would add immersion. They do not need to work, just add the counterweights to the catenary as a permanent object. What is your opinion? Greetings
Looking at the current state of the catenary... I probably have a vague idea why those aren't there. They're pretty complex considering they stretch a field and the wires have to slowly interchange with the ending previous field. So each addition of these has to be pretty carefully implemented and considering the number of problems currently present above the pantograph, this would probably break it all even more. Definitely needs to be added in the future though.
Im pretty sure ive seen a screen shot from dresden that had this on tsw ill try look it out was on the tsw discord
The meissen branch does have the correct overhead wire system. You can take a look with the mod made by Trainsim CZ.
Where can I find it? I have not seen them have the counterweights in the Meissen screenshots. If so, they should be all over the route. It would be weird if only one branch has the correct catenary.
Counterweights are also their on the branch line. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/mod-download-tsw-2-unlocked-test-timetable-from-dra.45741/
I find it strange that there is only one counterweight to all the shots that were shown. Anyway, it is a good start for them to begin to be implemented in the game. I hope to see more routes with the counterweights implemented in a while
I'm one who doesn't like catenaries constantly flickering at the edges of my screen. Was running Boston the other day and switched route midway for a nice bit of three rail action. No more dangling wires... Indeed why did we ever ditch broad gauge?
