It's a 2 track passing loop, gets 1 train per hour each way IIRC.

Gillingham (Kent) has three tracks, two are the main through tracks where the Southeastern regional trains, Thameslink and Southeastern HighSpeed trains stop and platform 1 is off to the side and this is where the southeastern terminating trains usually stop. There are at least 14 trains per hour passing through or commencing from this station (more in the peak), with services towards London starting about 4AM and the last train towards Ramsgate (pre-COVID) leaving after 2:30AM. Passenger numbers in 2019 were just over 2.5 million
Gillingham used to be the terminal station of the North Kent lines with a half hourly service from Charring Cross extending from Dartford and Gravesend and terminating at Gillingham, but these were replaced by the Thameslink services which now terminate at Rainham (one stop further East)
Gillingham also has a Southeastern depot, with about half a mile of track and a level crossing between the two. The depot mainly hosts class 465s and 466s but Thameslink stable 700s overnight (with two or three on site overnight quite often). The crossing was controlled by a manual signal box right next to the level crossing until about three years ago when the local signalling centre (which is between the station and the old signal box) took control of the whole East Kent region.

Gillingham (Dorset) is a smaller two platform through station between Salisbury and Taunton on the West of England mainline. It has one service per hour each way from London Waterloo to Exeter. Passenger numbers hover just under half a million a year
