My grand parents once owned the old station at Speeton (just north of Bridlington) and when I was born in the 1979 winter of discontent my grandparents couldnt get into Bridlington let alone drive down to Beverly (where I was born) to visit their 3rd grandchild, so they rang up the station master at Bridlington who arranged for the next Scarborough to Hull to make a special stop at Speeton to collect them and then once theyd seen me another service to take them home.

Thus the history books are incorrect when they say the last passenger service to call at Speeton was in 1970.

If this route was ever made I would pay good money for my grandparents story to be included as a scenario.

    Please DTG make this happen.

Why do I want this route:
This route is local to me so like most TSW2 players this is a route/reigion I wish would make it into the game. As a young child I spent a couple of days out with my grandparents travelling up to Beverley on a class153 with my grandparents and it is one of my earliest railway memories.
The entrance to Hull Paragon Interchange, in my opinion, has some sites to see including the MKM stadium ,which is very close to the track, Hull Royal Infirmary which is a dominant feature of the skyline, St Stephens shopping center with its wavy roof. Another very colourful site, which is good potential for a mastery reward, is Hull fair located in Walton Street car park which is also right next to the railway line. At night this would look spectacular with all the fairground ride lights and a loud atmosphere to drive right next to.
Just before Beverley station you get a good view of Beverley minster towering above.
Further north you travel past Normandy barracks a former RAF base (now British army driving school) .
I think it would be a relaxing experience to drive this route as it isn't long before your cruising through East Yorkshire country side, getting close to the coast many times at Bridlington, Filey and Scarbrough.

Personally I'd set it in the 70s.

Why? Because we'd have the Filey Butlins branch included, you'd still have Hull fair (with Hull fair specials). Also holiday specials to Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey would still be a thing. Freight also ran on the line up to the early 1980s

We've already got train sets which could be used as the 101 was used on this line during this period along with class 20s hauling coaches and goods trains.

    Some other points of interest
    Paragon train shed is impressive.
Beverley Minister is visible from the line.
The worlds longest railway bench at Scarborough

Although of it is modern day, you'd also have Hull Trains class 801s to Beverly to be included.

It'd be nice to see some more modern diesel traction like the 170 and 158!

For us 70s/80s freaks you could layer in the MetCam 101s and 47s on Mark One or Two coaches.

Lovely suggestion! You had me at 'Scarborough'.
Might be biased, but more Yorkshire never harmed anyone...and having a modern route there would be great.

I'd prefer the modern day traction as it's high time we had a 158 in TSW 2. Though I think DTG should include layers for 70s/80s stock.

This could also be a good pre Dr Beeching route as it looks so much more interesting and the line could continue to Whitby from Scarborough and potentially the railways that go to the docks.

Excellent idea and in timetable mode you can get a class 158 coupled to Class 150 170 due to their BSI coupler system. If TVL was owned with a pacer DLC you can get a Class 150 Pacer combination like how it was done in 2020-2022
