Hello all, I've replaced the default looking rain visuals with a brand new, more realistic looking variant. Gone are the white lines taking over the scene and replaced with something much more realistic and less intrusive looking. This mod applies to all routes for you to enjoy. NOTE: Before installing, please remove my previous rain mod, if you have it installed, and replace it with this one. Download here Screenshots:
Another good mod sir! Thank you for this. I do wonder though, is there a way to improve the rain droplets on the windscreen? They are very poor in TSW/TSW2. In Train Sim Classic they are handled very nicely. I would hope that the UE4 could do a better job with these.
Thanks. The droplets on the screen, especially on older DLC, is of lower resolution. I tried to increase the resolution, but unfortunately it does not apply to every glass surface on the train. This means you would get a mix of big and small droplets on the glass. The water droplet on the windscreen animation is only something DTG can change. I also believe its caped at like 24FPS. The animation feels super choppy when the droplet slides down the glass, despite having a high framerate.
I tried the new rain yesterday and had ultra-imersive-luck The rain was not too strong and the droplets fittet just perfectly. The performance seems to be better, too - could it be that this reflection-effect is gone? Haven't tried a rainy night yet ... besides absolute darkness (in newer routes) the rain (reflections) are the main reason I couldn't see far ahead
Good to hear your enjoying it I’ve not noticed any performance differences, however it certainly reflects a lot less because the droplets are smaller.
I hope DTG can use and implement your mod as a core feature for everyone together with lightning and thunder and dynamic weather. Did anyone notice that in the last Rush hour roadmap stream Matt quickly implied that a change of the weather system may come as well? I've seen no discussion of that in this forum. But did anyone else heard that he said that on a later stream they may talk about weather as well?
Your rain, sir, is absolutely apocalyptic! Whew! I'm going to try easing back the precipitation setting a bit before looking at it again, but I do admire the effect you've created, including on windows.
Thanks for this patch londonmidland, it's a great job! I have a question, is this rain mod compatible with these 2 other patches? - New Cab Wind & Rain Sounds (now including Louder Rain version) - Train Sim Community - Wetter Enhancement Modifikation - Rail-Sim.de - Die deutsche Train Simulator Community Thank you,
Love this mod when combined with the sky one I have noticed though that the rain mod seems to cause the overheads on Cathcart to turn green, is anyone else getting this?
Ah. I accidentally left this in from my Class 314 weathering enhancement pack, which weathers the wires and gantries. Apologies for this.
I've installed the Cab Wind & Rain Sounds mod, but don't notice any difference in sound levels -- is it compatible with the TSWNewRainVisualsV2.0 mod, which I also have installed?
Thanks! Now I can only think that the Cab Wind & Rain Sounds mod isn't working -- if anything, the cab seems more quiet than before.
It works just fine, promise. If you find the rain is too quiet use the ‘louder rain version’ if you haven’t already. It is much more realistic, and you shouldn’t hear an incessant and constant rain noise, as rain doesn’t do that in the real world.
can it be that with this mod i have less snowfall ? because when i set heavy snowfall i only get a snow weather like this: or i have some strong artifacts at a few tracks in this next image is hard to see but when in game its like the textures wont load: cheers
5cip This mod has no effect on the snow intensity/snow weather. The issue lies with the route/snow effects itself.
Nice job LM! The droplets on the windows could really do with an overhaul from DTG, they look more like drops of wallpaper paste than water. Looking across at the various driving sims, there are some great effects out there that change with the speed of the vehicle. Be nice if the powers that be at Dovetail hired a UE specialist for a few weeks to sort it out. It would make a world of difference to the immersion.
do you know where in the game settings i could find the entry for this if avaible ? i guess a mod doesnt exist for that ?
Cracking stuff mate. It's a shambles that DTG have not issued out a better rain patch or tried to improve on the quality of weathering, especially with a flagship TSW3 release. Just the standard I expect from a half a**ed company.
Don’t know if it does but can recommend this if not… https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...hes/i2789-better-rain-version-2-for-tsw3-tsw2
