This would be an extension for BML from East Croydon to London Bridge. This in my opinion should have been included in the route from the start but if they had done that then that might have been an indication the 700. Although there is plenty to do already This would just give that litle bit more and some more variety
I'd say extend it up to Blackfriars station as that is the only London based stop I know of for the Class 700 EMUs.
An additional 8 stations on an 11 mile route, with 43 trains an hour on the stretch through Sydenham Would need 700s (Thameslink), 455 (Southern local), 378 (London Overground) as well as the 377s we already have on Southern Regional. Beyond New Cross Gate you also have the Kent Mainline, North Kent Lines, Thameslink services from North Kent and SouthEast London with approx 100 services an hour to London Bridge, would need 465/466 as well as what's listed before That's a heck of a lot of work
I agree, that is a lot of work. The approaches to London Bridge are highly complex, the amount of additional traction required and let’s not forget the current route doesn’t really work.
Not only that, but London Bridge is in a very dense area which means tons of modelling that needs to be done.
