I really enjoyed the scenarios that came with the GP40-2 DLC, I was always curious if there was an official reason why it was never ported over or if it was just simply forgotten.
No, there was a reason for it. Because it would require a major overhaul the same way Sanpatch 2.0 was made for TSW2 (in terms of the loco physics and other details). Which requires time that, unfortunately, they don't have time for. Hence why it was left behind with NEC: NY and SW1000R.
I feel like at some point in the future DTG will most likely bring in the GP40-2 at some point. It was built on the same frame as the GP38-2, it is still a prominent loco on many class 1s today. And runs off of the same EMD 16-645E3 that the SD40-2 runs on. So it wouldn't be too hard for DTG to make a new one (Though new sounds would be welcomed).
There's no doubt that they will make another GP40 down the road one day (if not in CSX livery, then something for UP or NS as an alternative). And hopefully, better than before too.
Excellent idea and it can also come in to Norfolk Southern Paint Horseshoe curve or Sherman Hill Union Pacific Yard switcher and European Union Germany United Kingdom American and Canadian switchers are called shunters.
Are they used near Boston? Could bring it back for a different part of the NEC. Would also add drivable freight for Boston dlc.
From what I know its mostly locals on the section of NEC for the boston route, so GP-40s seem possible.
