I enjoy driving without the HUD to add that extra bit of realism. This is generally fine but I find that the speedometer on most German trains are extremely difficult to read. It could be a resolution issue but I find it hard to see where the needle is pointing and the number in the centre is extremely difficult to discern. I have tried using dark mode and playing with the game settings but it does not seem to make too much of a difference. Does anyone have any tips for this apart from having to zoom in all the time in the dashboard? Thanks!
Up your screen percentage. Biggest problem with the MFDs being unreadable is the Aliasing which can be defeated with screen percentage.
I did try putting up to 200% and that didn’t really have an effect that I could tell. With regards to aliasing should I have the setting on to something or off?
I do too but I do think the resolution could be improved so that it’s not necessary. On the UK trains the dials are pretty clear.
Buy a raildriver - it comes with a LED speed indicator. I couldnt drive HUDless on German (Or most other routes) without it!!
Assuming your computer can handle it without choking. High screen percentage is brutal on GPU cycles and VRAM.
I have the same issue and it can make going without the HUD very difficult. On the 101, you can change the left screen to a speedometer which I find easier to read. This also applies to at least one other German loco which I can’t recall - and I’m away from my PC for a bit. I also solve this issue with track IR - to get a better look, just lean in.
