An EMD GP9 sprints down the last leg of Donner Pass, highballing from Colfax towards Roseville and onwards. (Sparks Yard free roam, GP9 + 4 coaches)
The world turns yellow on a beautiful 1949 Fall afternoon as a PRR GG1 sprints down the Northeast Corridor, passing by freight entering the yard (Workshop, South Amboy Local)
BR Class 55 013, The Black Watch rushes the last section of its run on the East Coast Main Line, between Peterborough and Stevenage (Workshop route BRs ECML by Simonmd)
Ok, so since my initial theme doesn't seem to be doing too hot, I've decided to change the theme to mainlines. Hopefully this encourages more entrants!
They just conspired for me to take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place all at once! (Or I pulled some strings to ensure no one else can post. You'll never know!) Highball was fine, there wasn't much activity in the official screenie thread the last day or two either. I hope everyone is busy planning their shots. It would be neat if some route actually had a high ball. Or a balloon (Pacific Surfliner). Or a signalman waving a green lamp / board to wave a train off, we still have this tradition in my country.
For my entry I've been inspired to produce a sort of art imitating real-life image, of a busy mainline scene on a summer evening back in 1986 at London Waterloo. https://www.flickr.com/photos/137766734@N08/50850004398

............................... whilst on the other side of the country on the East Coast Mainline, Class 91 129 "Queen Elizabeth II" departs Newcastle on the 125 mile run up to Edinburgh.
A Manchester Airport bound Class185, in comemorative Trans Pennine British Legion Poppy livery, enters Preston Station on the West Coast Mainline. (Route: OTS Northern Lines)
On the West Coast Main Line just north of Rugby, a GBRF Class 92 with a Megafret Container train heads northbound from Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT), as a DRS Class 66 with an Intermodal freight heads southbound towards DIRFT, with a consignment destined for the huge Tescos Supermarket distribution centre.
Stanier 5XP Jubilee Class 5573 "Newfoundland" pulls a railtour into York Station on the East Coast Mainline. Locos:- BMG Jubilee Class 5XP with AP MK1 Maroon Coaches, Azuma Class 800 Route:- OTS Harrogate Loop V2
A pair of EMT Meridians race each other on the Midland Mainline towards St. Pancras. JT Voyager/Voyager advanced Midland mainline - St. Pancras - Bedford
An East Coast Class 43 HST heading south passes over a viaduct on the ECML between Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Well this competition started out slow, but we got plenty of good submissions this week! So, without further ado, here's my top 3 picks for the week! In 3rd, we have triznya.andras with some vintage Pennsy action on the NEC In 2nd, we have cscarpenter with a nice shot of a class 91 And in 1st place, we have Matthew Wilson with their shot of a busy 1980's London. I'm a sucker for photo recreations, so I just had to choose this as #1! Great submissions this week, everyone!
OOh thanks very much for the win, I wasn't really expecting it but I enjoy the challenge of recreating real-life events where possible. Now, to choose a topic for the next competition, my choice of theme is....... Monochrome - subject matter can be anything you choose, but the end result must be in black & white.
Congratulations, it was indeed a great shot or a lovely scene. That scene would be a slideshow on my PC, but it's for shooting anyway, right? ps.: Are you creating the thread or would you like someone to do it?
No prob Matthew, I'll set up the new thread now for you. Edit: Here you go folks https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-competition-week-29.47289/
