Just getting back into this sim after several years. I am using just US routes. B&O Kingwood & Canadian Mountain Passes have a problem with the graphics. The area either side of the tracks is White squares with Yellow & Black zigzags. I have had this issue in the past but cant recall the cause or the fix. I haven't checked all of the routes but Dona Pass doesn't have the same issue. I have tried unchecking the problem routes & then re-installing them but it doesn't help. A second question regarding route files. In the route folder, is there a way to tell which file relates to which route ? Thanks
You beat me to it triznya.andras I agree one of the base asset packs is missing. If you go into any of the base routes do they look ok? You could verify your installation with Steam. Try this, then if it doesn't work log a support call with DTG (they will tell you to do this) Firstly, we would recommend that you verify your game files and then clear the in-game cache. How to Verify Integrity of Game Files Restart your computer and launch Steam From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes. Clearing Your In-game Cache Open Train Simulator Select Settings,Tools Click Clear Cache Restart Train Simulator Logging a support ticket is done here https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/ - use forgot my password - your ID should be there but the password will be changed as this is a new system. You were indeed correct. I have a total of 87 DLC. Don't want all of them installed. I had installed all the ones I thought were needed for the US routes. Had another search through them & found a asset pack I thought was for Europe. Put that in & all is good. Thank you.
Each Route in the folder has it's own number - B&O Kingwood Branch is f45680b0-fef9-4879-9ce5-3d9b0a319b24 All the files in that folder are required to make the route work but it is just a map. They point to other files in the Asset Folders which has all the different buildings and scenery that bring the map to life In your Steam\steamapps\common\railworks folder is NameMyRoute.exe which when run creates a list of all the route and scenarios you have installed - you can copy the output to an excel, notepad or word file to give yourself a list. Don't worry much about it unless you are running out of disk space. Apart from slightly longer loading times, it doesn't do much harm. I have about 400 DLC installed. I have future stuff because it auto-installs, and/but for past things, it maks sense to keep aplenty around so that when it's time to build an interesting scenario, or take some new toy on a spin, you have options. I just reinstalled Class 57 and 66 for the container flats and the 08 for the two-axle hoppers. The Missing RouteProperties.xml is fairly normal, a bit silly that this app still doesn't know them after 9 years or so. Inside each folder it's a valid option to have a ZIP (or more), which then contains the files. I guess the idea was to have a bit less clutter and save a bit of space, albeit it also makes things slower. So you'd just have to go in there and check.
The reason for the Missing RouteProperties is you have purchased a train that has Scenarios for a Route that you do not own. So the system just puts them to one side and if you did buy that route in the future you would not have to install them again.
You have a large batch in the middle starting as 00000034 with missing properties yet the appear on mine 00000058 is North Jersey Coast line which I don't own but I have Scenarios for a loco/unit I do own on that route.
Yeah, I bought up a load of DLC in a sale several years ago. I new some of it wasn't relevant but may be useful in the future.
Yes, I own all, or most of them. E.g. just played London-Faversham today. I shared plenty of Donner Pass screenshots as well Are you sure the XML isn't extracted in your system? A lot of people say they are using tools to extract assets to improve performance. This is how my #30 looks like (all of it):
t.a You are correct the route name etc will only appear in 'Name My Route' if you have extracted the 'routeproperties.xml' file (from the .ap file) with WinRAR, 7-zip, or TS-Tools.
rocky It's probably easier to use TS-Tools see belowOpen TS Tools choose 'Route building tools' and then 'Extract Routeproperties.xml and follow the prompts.
