Is there a way to use career mode without scoring ?
I remove the tick & save.
Next time I look its back again.

It sounds like your install is on either C drive (a protected drive on Win10 onwards) or in a read only folder, meaning the game can't write to (edit) the PlayerProfiles.bin, hence the reason it's not saving.
Left click on the RailWorks folder and see if the "Read Only" option is ticked/marked if so untick it and select the option to alter all files and folders, it may take a little while depending on how big your RailWorks folder is.
I done this from the outermost folder "Program Files (x86)" on my E: drive which is where my dedicated install of \Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks is located so that all files and folders are writeable.

As a rule of thumb it's never a good idea to have any of your games libraries on the same drive as your Operating System even more so now from Win10 onwards, if it is on your C: drive then it'd be a good idea to get a second hard drive (I highly recommend an SSD) if you are able to and google tutorials on how to move your Steam library.

I run a separate SSD with only Steam on it for games.
But I seem to have sorted the problem.
After removing the tick & saving several times, it has now stayed clear.
