Highly recommend you guys and girls go check out VoiceAttack.

It allows you to control just about anything - and I mean anything - on your PC through voice control.

It greatly enhances immersion in Sim games. I use it currently for DCS World. It is especially powerful for enhancing immersion in VR.

Despite it's name, VoiceAttack also includes powerful and highly customisable key binding and macro creation functionality. Just about any type of input from any detected device (voice / keyboard / mouse / controllers / external software) can be bound to commands, macros etc.

You can also have commands "acknowledged" in real time using Windows Text-to-speech.

If your device is detected by Windows, it can be used to drive any key command(s) in game.

Voice Attack could therefore be a potential work around for those of you with RailDriver looking for a consistent experience across TSW2. Assuming RailDriver is detected as an input device, VoiceAttack will map the RailDriver controls to key commands which are universally understood in-game.

There is a free demo (available through the website and on Steam), which includes a single profile with up to 20 commands. The Pro version is unlimited.

    Enjoy :)

Rats. I never thought of this.
Back in the day I used something called Game Commander which did something similar.
If you can get it to work, it does add to the immersion.

Would be interested in the commands you choose to use.

You can create any command you like, to suit your playing style, limited only by your imagination

    For example:

    "Signaller" (contact signaller)
    "Notch up" (accelerate)
    "Notch down"
    "Idle"
    "Cab lights on"
    "Emergency Brake"
    "External camera 3"
    "UI On / UI Off"
    "Next Signal aspect"

And so on, and so on...

You could even use it to simulate banking comms on US Freight, along with "read back" acknowledgments using text-to-speech.

That sounds cool...but I question how replacing one inaccurate input method with another inaccurate input method would increase immersion. While I understand it's not immersive to control a train with a home keyboard because train drivers don't use pc keyboards, they don't use voice recognition either. Maybe I'm just being grumpy.

You can create voice commands for any key binding / key combination in the game. If there's a separate keybinding for open / close left doors and open /close right doors, you can do that. You could also create a command to ring the guard bell.

If a command exists in the game, it can be controlled through your voice.

It does loads more besides all that.

Worth checking out the free demo.

And today the Eurofighter does not use it anymore, because it was a terrible user interface, but we get to try it.

To get back to topic, I do not see how Voice Attack should increase immersion in TSW, as there is nearly nothing that would be voice controlled simulated. The single one application I see in TSW is for the dispatcher command and thats it. By the way I did use it for DCS witch VAICOM, however it being frustratingly unreliable and basically broke with every single update there was for DCS.

You forget the Japanese system of pointing and calling as a safety system.
