Here I am suggesting a pack with 2 trains to add to the CCL and make it seem a bit less empty. The first train I’m recommending is the class 320: The second train I’m recommending is the class 380: These trains have not been seen in game before and would make the CCL feel less empty
In 2014 pretty much just 314s operated on this route with a few 380s at peak hours. The 380 would be better suited to a different route and then layering on for probably 6 services. Obviously as my profile picture suggests I do want a 380 but this is not the correct route
Both would be cool, but the 311 and 303 were withdrawn in 1990 and 2002 respectively, so wouldn't be seen on the 2014 route. As a retro 38 stock-style add on, it would add a bit of variety to proceedings, but I'd rather get the more modern options in as a layer from another ScotRail route.
I'm going to say what I always say about this: Cathcart comes with the loco that (in either 2014/2017 - the two dates thrown around as Cathcart's setting) the Class 314 is by far the predominant loco on the line. The 320's & 318's (they go together tbh) "main" route is the Argyle Line, which interchanges with the Circle at Glasgow and Newton, whilst the 380 is found often on North Berwick, Inverclyde, Ayrshire, Paisley Canal, Edinburgh - Glasgow via Carstairs and such services, interchanges at Glasgow Central. Whilst Cathcart needs a tad more variety at Glasgow, 90+% of any DLC would be AI - provided the timetable remains realistic. That's just half of the case against it. Secondly, let's take a step back from Cathcart for a second. It's no news that Scottish routes are still something in demand, and, this has an opportunity. Germany, in-game, has a substitution/layer system across most routes. The UK has a limited version in Railtours and Freight - with BML being a standout, with many layers of all types, including diverts and passenger services. Scotland/ScotRail, provided it's potential and demand is tapped into, could take the German model. With the Electrified routes around Glasgow and Edinburgh layering, with the Diesel lines adding on as well. As I said previously, I think the 320/380 are far better suited for their own routes. It makes far more sense. - A Scot (me) Railtours are bonus layers from other routes - that's the only reason they exist. And the ones on Cathcart are incredibly shoehorned. There's little to no reason for them at all. Exactly this.
One question. Are class 314 trains with 6 carriages included in the timetable? So far I have only ridden with 3 coaches. I did not notice any with 6 coaches.
and is the AWS alarm activated on a yellow or red signal? There is no recognizable sound at all when the train passes over the part where the alarm is activated before the signal, depending on what the signal is?
Just to add to this, if we got either of these for Cathcart what would run on other routes as standard? If the Inverclyde line was made but the 380 was a add-on for Cathcart there would be no trains on the Inverclyde line unless you bought Cathcart and the 380 as well.
How about a DTG official repaint of the 314s into SPT carmine and cream to add variety to the route? (even if there’s a higher ratio of the Scotrail livery)
Excellent idea but you are going to run across a problem with Class 380 it's the Traction motors and brakes overheating therefore a long wait time must be added for the class 380 if it needs to run Cathcart Circle
Just some interesting quotes I found on that thread, it seems that there are 20+ minute waits at the end of services for the trains to cool down. This last quote seems to be the source of the problem, lots of accelerating and decelerating with not much cooling in between.
If they added the Inverclyde line it would have to come with the 320, 380 or 318 the loco that was added in earlier would layer from cathcart and one of the other two would layer onto cathcart, as well as the 314 being in both too obviously
The Game in game schedule must reflect that. Come in and come out with 380 320 & 334 in Cathcart Circle would have resulted in this message. Service failure Your Train has caught on fire
Or alternatively they could just include only the services that the trains in question run, rather than fictional services, which means the loco wouldn't blow up. Also, it's not "cool down" in that sense, it's in the sense of the systems - I believe it's the computers, thanks to the rapid stops. I've kind of been considering making a thread for this (if anyone would like to see it, please say so) about where locos would go, however this is the rough version: Focusing on the Glasgow Suburban (Electric) network, with the Inverclyde, Ayrshire Coast, Cathcart Circle, Argyle and North Clyde Lines (I'm not including Paisley Canal), the following would be the most likely: Cathcart - 314 Inverclyde - 380 Ayrshire - 380 Argyle - 318, 320 North Clyde - 334, 156 Layering wise, this could be: 156: Home Route: North Clyde Line (Could realistically be West Highland Line) Layers: All Routes (AI) 314: Home Route: Cathcart Circle Layers: Inverclyde Line, Ayrshire Coast Line, Argyle Line (AI) 318: Home Route: Argyle Line Layers: Inverclyde Line, Ayrshire Coast Line, Cathcart Circle (AI with limited playable services), North Clyde Line 320: Home Route: Argyle Line Layers: Inverclyde Line, Ayrshire Coast Line, Cathcart Circle (AI with limited playable services), North Clyde Line 334: Home Route: North Clyde Line Layers: Argyle Line 380: Home Routes: Ayrshire Coast Line & Inverclyde Line Layers: Argyle Line (AI), Cathcart Circle (AI with limited playable services). That's presuming it would all be ScotRail, with no era mixing or anything.
