    idk why this happens, but i had this trouble like 10 times.

    update: brakes are fine if you switch it to vacuum ones

    Yeah probably because the coaches or wagons you've got behind you are vaccum braked.

    this happens on MK2's too, but they are air braked.

    Depends on the type of MK2's.

    Original MK2's are vaccum braked.

    MK2a to MK2f were fitted with air braking systems.

    So to answer your original question.

    You have to change the mode of braking with no air in the braking system, otherwise it's confused.
