    Edit...

If the Sound Recording Session is "crashed" by Union Pacific (perhaps for Corona or other Nature Stuff), than Move back the Release for the DLC till you can official recording the Sounds for the Loco.

I Think is better than taking sounds out of Videos...

Hurrah, no more US trains in TSW2 :o

It’s because of who they are making the DLC for, the fans of big US locomotives and US railroading in general. If they had to wait until they could get the recordings themselves it might be another ten years until the opportunity final presents itself.

Matt my old railroad company Arkansas & Missouri Railroad has 3 SD70ACe and they will allow you to come on their property and record the sounds off their engines...if you need info on contacts just shoot me a email at Jakareythomas1988@gmail.com
And for the record the Class 66 on Train Sim World has the same sound as the SD70ACe just in case you didn't know

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought the 150 didn't sound right! I'm only familiar with the 156 so wasn't sure if that was the issue.

Then again, you're comparing a V12 engine (12N-710G3B-EC) from a UK loco instead of a V16 (16-710G3C-T2) for the ACe.

True but be honest the sounds are alike, not saying for them to use them but they must have some sort of connection to those type of engines

I'd suggest contacting DCC decoder producers SoundTraxx & Train Control Systems (TCS). They have a lot of recordings that you may find useful if you can strike a deal.

If you compare the sound of the Class 66 and the SD70ACe you can hear that the prime mover sounds very similar, it just has a different pitch and frequency (rpm). It should be possible for an experienced sound engineer to modify the Class 66 sound to sound like a SD70ACe. Obviously this would be worst case scenario/last ditch effort, much easier/better to get the real thing.

I know this doesn't particularly help this situation, but, If you ever needed quality EMD 16-567 sounds, I have a few suggestions.

We have a small tourist excursion line in town that runs ex Santa Fe GP7s, Wallowa Union Railroad/Friends of the Joseph Branch, which either locomotive sound would be appropriate for most non turbo 1st generation EMD diesels (FT, F3, F7, GP7, SD7, GP9 etc), and are very similar to the sounds of second generation non turbo locomotives like GP38s. I do feel like the WURR would be very accommodating for sound recording.

I work for a shortline that runs GP9R locomotives, and I know we have had people come out and do recordings of the units idling and moving about the yard for a "ambient" sound project they were working on, but we are a daily active railroad so I don't know how easy a recording session would be.

We are out in the Oregon mountains, plenty of quiet places to record sounds

This might be a dead end, but just out of curiosity, have you guys tried reaching out to 3rd parties for other train sims? Both RRmods and Jointed Rail make excellent add-ons for Trainz, not sure if they would be willing to work with another simulator but it never hurts to reach out.

Jointed Rail even produced the locomotive you're currently working on, although I'm not sure where they've gotten their sounds from.

A little bit disappointed when Matt said that the ACe uses the Class 66 (EMD JT42CWR) engine sound, yes i know both engine have few similarities but still, at least for me i want the real 16 cylinder EMD 710 sounds.

Matt explained why this wasn’t possible. It’s what it is. Hopefully it’ll be upgraded in future.

I mean theoretically yes but as he mentioned before it’s also a copyright issue

That would also be relevant, yes. Copyright is a thing that exists for a reason.

    Hey Mat,
I know this is really off topic, but I had found this while looking up "spirit of steam" in the Google search bar in eastern Virginia, US. I think it's a hint. 91MPtI8OiQL.jpg
