A lot of routes, when selected, take me to my next stage of the journey, when often I want to go to the main menu and choose my own scenario/service etc. How about using the shift button functionality to give the option of being sent to the routes' menu instead?
Turn off auto load journeys in the settings screen. This will then go to the menu for the route rather than put you straight into the next journey.

If you turn it off, it's off for all routes. You can still select continue journey from the route menu. I think the only time it doesn't work is when you select a route for the first time and it puts you in the tutorial.
