Hi Joe Joethefish, I was just wondering where you got the reference material from for the BML timetable as I would quite like to look at it as I like that sort of stuff
Heya! I can share some of it with you. Darren Porter (DPSimulation) has compiled a lot of previous timetables to be downloaded on his website. We used the 2018 Summer timetables. Hope this helps! Nope, we used 2018 timetables. RTT always has current timetables. Currently whats going on with the Brighton Mainline is closure of platforms 6 & 7 at Gatwick Airport. This has meant Gatwick Express services are completely suspended and 1M trains are running Southern services that do not stop at Clapham Junction. Using current timetables would've made for a much quieter route. Not my image. Track on platform 7 has also been removed.
And would render one of the included trains completely useless. I've just thought - are you aware of any Southern services (in game) that skip Clapham?
Hi Joe, I posted this in another thread, but noticed there are no Southern services from Brighton to London between 6am and 9.30am. In this time, four trains do London to Brighton. Not sure if that’s typical, but seems odd there are no Southern services from Brighton to London during Rush Hour.
Well the 387s are loosely being used as Southern and Great Northern trains. Yeah, Gatwick Express 387s at Kings Cross etc. I was on one the other day to Victoria. Shouldn't be! Only ECS trains. The nonstop Southern passenger services are the 1M/1W which (as of 2020/21) are former Gatwick Express headcodes. Sorry mate, must've missed it. We had the exact same reaction when we were reading through the diagrams! So as of 2018, early morning London to Brighton services at 4tph Gatwick Express (1W/1M) and 0tph Southern (1A). After as you say about 09:30, Southern 377s start running 2tph 1A services and Gatwick Express reduces its frequency to 2tph. Those extra 387s you'll see parked at Lovers Walk During the day. These 1A 377 units start their day at on the Coastway lines (mostly Littlehampton and Eastbourne) and will run a non-typical 1F or 1H service to Victoria. You can tell them apart as these are the 1F/1H that don't do any coupling at Haywards Heath. Later in the evening, these 377 units upon arriving at Victoria will then had back to where they started their days, Eastbourne, Littlehampton and a few other places like Seaford and Ore. When that happens, rather than increasing Gatwick Express 1W/1M frequency, the frequencies remain 2tph 1A and 2tph 1W/M with the 1As now being run by 387s. They follow the same stopping pattern as Southern 1As so that's why at night you'll see 387s stopping at East Croydon and Clapham Junction as well as terminating on platforms other than 13 & 14 at Victoria. During this time, you'll also notice some Gatwick Express 387s (those on 1D, 1M, 1U & 1W) maybe reduce length down to 4 coaches. This is one early morning 1A99, which joins up with a train at Haywards Heath and IIRC spends the rest of the day as one of the 1H/1F splitters. Hope this helps!
Thank you, Joe, for an excellent timetable! It is fun to experience such a well crafted and busy route. From the stream, I remember you mentioning something about a Bristol train late to a junction and getting stuck behind a Brighton train. This is just the kind of service I love to drive! Do you know the specific service? Are there any other runs that you would specifically recommend? Thanks again for all the attention you put into this. It really shows and I am thoroughly enjoying the route.
Glad you're liking it! Can't remember talking about the Bristol train, sorry mate. Others I must recommend are: 5B88 Part 1 - (my favourite service). All I'll say is don't SPAD. Lol 5B90 Parts 1-4 - This is a little wacky of a four-parter. Timed in such a way to fit into the busy stopper traffic at Selhurst. Those are for the Class 313 so if you don't have it, fair enough. I must also recommend 1F96. It's a bit of an odd one. I won't say what happens because if you not paying attention, it may catch you out! 7V00 if you have ECW is a nice chasing yellows run too. Would also recommend any of the 1Y services. They're peak time only Victoria-Caterham/Tattenham Corner trains that used to run back in 2018. Whats interesting is they run fast from Clapham to East Croydon then do all stop runs. Some of the 1Ys run from Clapham fast lines to Victoria slow lines and can be seen using the crossover just north of Battersea Park. Hope you like these!
When I saw the title I expected this to be a topic about Joe... Mama! Instead I found some quality info, thanks Joe.
Hi Joe love the timetable and different variety of services London commuter has to offer even only having the PS4 version. I've noticed there's certain 1C services to Southampton that leave Victoria at 26 not 36 on certain hours (2 that come to mind 20:26 & 22:26). In the other direction they also leave Three Bridges 10mins earlier (19:24 & 21:24). Definitely from Victoria these follow 1min after a Brighton. Will these be changed to match it to the general 36 past the hour departure time?
Thanks for bring this to my attention! I'll need to investigate how I've managed this. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe it was intentional. But I'll add it to my list of things to look at, does look a bit off though.
No problem. I do have the full list of the services From Victoria 1J22, 1J30, 1J38, 1J46, 1J54 (being a peak service that maybe correct), 1J62, 1J70 From Three Bridges 1C25, 1C33, 1C41, 1C49, 1C57, 1C65 Nevertheless as mentioned done a great job with it
