Chester to Manchester would be a great route, just about the right length for a DTG route ;) lots of passenger action, could even include the tram network if you wanted, also the opportunity to have some freight pass through including Oakleigh sidings workings with the limestone hopper delivery & oil tankers + coal too! also scope to include the section to Tunstead quarry for a full freight run! This part especially interests me & I`m sure others too!

Possible link to WCLM via Northwich west junction, also Chester connects to Mersey Rail.

I would suggest settings this route pre 2013 as that's when Oakleigh became dis-used.

    Traction could include Classes 37, 60, 66, 56, 142, 150 + Railtour fun too!

Lots of variety available for this very versatile route, loads of scope for passenger and freight fun!

CL37 with some old vac braked hoppers on a Tunstead - Northwich - Oakleigh run

Updated traction (there were noise complaints!) at Oakleigh, CL60 with modern hoppers
