Lately I haven’t had time to watch the streams as much as I usually do. Does anyone know if DTG has acknowledged the audio issue with the AWS on Brighton Mainline. It has a tendency to not sound and it makes the entire system unreliable. Unfortunately it’s the one thing that’s preventing me from enjoying what’s otherwise an awesome route. Hopefully something is in the works.
Matt has acknowledged it on stream, and it should be a simple fix (giving the AWS sound a higher priority) - the issue is too many other sounds playing at once.
I wonder what makes there be too many sounds at once, because every with essentially the same stock and similar environmental sounds has no issue like this.
Wow. So how much of TSW2's poor audio is down to this very limitation? Are we being fair to the devs in our criticism? Now, maybe the choice to use UE4 is the one to criticize? OTOH, building a bespoke engine is VERY expensive and time-consuming, and comes with its own drawbacks.
Very little, Dovetails TS content sounds even worse than what we have in TSW. And then you have games like ACC that use the same engine and sound fabulous. The problem with TSW audio isn't the amount of sounds being played, but the sample quality and mixing being all over the place.
So it seems it's not exclusive to the electrostars - I tried one of the freight services (by the way, shouldn't the trains from Newhaven be loaded, and the trains to Newhaven be empty?), and going through Gatwick, the AWS and DVD stopped playing - I only noticed that the DVD was supposed to be sounding when I saw the TPWS TSO light was out.
