Hello and welcome back to another suggestion! Today we are gonna be looking at Amtrak's Capitol Corridor. I wanna see this route because if you looked at my Pacific Surfliner thread that I posted earlier today and I thought it would be fun to suggest a really similar route around the same time. But if they add the full route, the'll have to make a route-extension to Peninsula Corridor. With that all out the way, lets hop right into it. Amtrak Capitol Corridor: San Jose - Auburn-Conheim Also known as the Amtrak San Joaquin, the Capitol Corridor is a route that is owned by Amtrak. The line has a top speed of 79mph. The travel time is around the same time as Pacific Surfliner. San Joaquin The San Joaquin is pulled by two locomotives. Some of them are F59PHIs and some of them are SC-44s. SC-44 The SC-44 Charger has taken on so many passenger railroads in the USA. However it is the diesel electric version of the ACS-64. It has the very same horn and really similar cab. Manufacturer: Siemens Mobility Build date: 2017 Length: 71 ft Top speed: 125mph Horse Power: 4,400 Numbered: 2101-2108 F59PHI Manufacturer: Electro Motive Division Build date: 1994-2001 Length: 58 ft Top speed: 110mph Horse Power: 3,000 Numbered: 2001-2015 Cab Car Non-Powered F40PH Conclusion Thank you guys for listening to my thread on why this route should be added. If I made a mistake, please let me know in the replies. Other than that, I really hope they do it. But other than that, I'll see you next time.
Your suggestions may be constructive. However, the current production standard of DTG is about 40-50 miles. The entire route will appear someday in the future. We will only wait before it does not appear... Maybe one day! who knows?
Or a smaller segment, awhile ago I made a similar proposal, but only for the Capitol Corridor from San Jose to Oakland/Emeryville. Which is a segment that is more likely to be made, rather than the full length route.
We could get a UP GP60 and/or GP15, plus an ET44AC, SD70M, SD70ACe, SD70ACe-T4 or ES44AC for freight services on this route.
