It been hotly debated that whatever steam engine is first will probably be a UK one.So following that logic could the word "spirit" be a hint or clue as to what steam engine they are working on(dtg is known for dropping hints about upcoming routes or loco add ons) Note:I can't see them releasing some overcomplicated beast that bugged, broken, glitched.(Then again this is dtg we are talking about,so who knows at this point). So might they possibly be creating there 1st tsw2 steam locomotive as one from the early days of UK railroading Possibly.... The Rocket? The Planet? The Lion? All very famous and successfull early steam engines for the UK...(Plus far less beastly then some large overly complicated powerhouses from later decades).
Doing a search for "Spirit of Steam" brought up this book based around Swindon's museum on Great Western Railway... so perhaps it could be another train added to the Great Western Scenario (similar to what they did with the Diesel Legends of Great Western) to test the grounds on Steam Trains before including them on Scenarios such as West Somerset Railway
For those who remember Monty Python Live At Drury Lane, they had a cocktail bar sketch where someone asked for a Mallard Fizz. Presumably Mallard was the spirit in the cocktail so Mallard must be the first Engine. Or maybe it will be Gordons the blue engine!
Someone in another form had a glitched out game file on a German dlc. I can make out what is possibly a compound cylinder as the livery for a goods wagon. I can tell you right now that that wasn't a livery glitch.
Something for a steam gala called "Spirit of Steam" on West Somerset Railway. The route has turntable and water tower so is set up for steam. Maybe Tornado might make an appearance at the gala along with a WSR tank engine. I'd be looking at supporting a preservation group such as A1 trust and for each DLC sale a percentage goes to the trust to keep them going.
GWR 1400 Oliver GWR 5700 Duck followed by the Alice type autocoach. Germany DB BR010 when you need express steam locomotive on RRO SKA HRR RSN HMA Main Spessart Bahn. DB 095 steam Banking engine on Main Spessart Bahn 1950s with DB BR110
I see this crop up online sometimes, yet I never see any solid proof. Anyway, this takes nothing away from Mallard’s title. Makes sense for the UK to have the first steam route since it was last to receive one with Rush Hour. Plus, it was the birthplace of the steam locomotive
That's totally fine, it's all subjective Personally, I don't think you can beat the majesty of the Gresley A4 - they are the peak of style and grace in the design of a steam locomotive. Simply put, they're stunning
Preserved One a K4 looking for a British Steam Engine of the same age as a K4 1930s build SR Battle of Britain Class. CSX has the P-7a locomotive. Want 1950s Main Spessart Bahn then a DB BR095 065. Main Spessart Bahn 1950s uses DB BR110 express. Present-day use RRO
DB stands for the West German Deutsche Bundesbahn the pre German reunification operator of Hamburg Lubeck (Electrified in 2008 post German Reunification remember it was mentioned in a stream) HMA (1930s) HRR RRO RSN Main Spessart Bahn Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen 1966. In 1966 Version of SKA you still have DB BR065 095 with DB BR110 & DB BR103.0 operational 9 years later they steam locomotives would be phased out in 1974. Not on Riesa-Dresden where 1980-1988 was the Phase out of steam One here is a DDR Deutsche Reichsbahn DR BR 50.40
Although it will be a good long time before DTG attempt anything as complex as a compound articulated engine, I would really like to see a N&W Y6b or a Virginian AE: not quite as long or heavy as the Big Boy, but both more powerful - in fact the most powerful production steam locos (by tractive effort) ever built. (Besides, if there's anything visually more impressive than a 4-8-8-4, it's a 2-10-10-2)
