Portsmouth Direct Line Headcode

Morning
I am a little puzzled regards headcode in the sim.
Using the AP class 444/450 enhancement pack with Portsmouth Direct Line.
Does it matter what headcode to use? 1Pxx 2Pxx etc, and if so does anyone have a listing for the various route combinations?

You can find headcodes and their stopping patterns on realtimetrains, I've linked the realtimetrains page for Guildford today below. You'll notice 1Pxx will be express, whereas as the 2Pxx services stop at the intermediate stops.

It doesn't matter what headcode you put in as this doesn't have any affect on route/stopping patterns.

In the Scenario Editor each train is assigned a Type and the AI (Computer) works out a trains priority based on it's Type

 

Thank you, I've dipped my toes into the Scenario Editor, changed the weather pattern so far!!

 

You can also change the type of train by clicking on the driver icon above the cab. I generally set passenger services to "special" since the AI can sometimes fumble around with mixed AI, like freight and passenger, on the same route. Try what works for you.

Thanks I will tinker with that. Each time I use this train set I discover something new. I had a very simplistic view of trains, not now.

 

Hah, I bet. Glad to see you're having fun with it! The editor is immensely powerful and easily the main reason to invest in TS20XX in general, but the UI is arcane to say the least. Took me a few times to figure out anything at all.

Thanks. Arcane you say, yes and of eastern origin or maybe Aztec. I was using the method of copy existing good scenario and then trying to change it. I have now scrapped that for the benefit of my sanity, and will build from scratch (when I have stopped driving around).

 

That's exactly how I learned, too. Just by ripping holes in existing scenarios until I could fix them again. And tell me about it! The only reason I don't make more scenarios is because I already spend so much driving that I don't have time!

 

I like to clone and swap stock in scenarios to give me the same run with some variation of the payer and AI trains

 

That's a great tip, leaves the original untouched and safe.
