With Windows 11 currently being rolled out I would like to know if Windows 11 is currently supported or will do in the future?
For me it’s mostly the start menu that I hate. I installed ‘Start 11’ which was very cheap and makes it similar to Win 10 again. That and the Microsoft experience stuff which if you use English but live in a country where it is not the main language, is not only quite intrusive, but it doesn’t work either - Fortunately you can completely disable that. Other than that, it works fine. I only do gaming on this PC so it’s not a big deal. My laptop which I use for everything else will stay on Win10 as long as possible.
I am miffed at ms with their conditions for win 11. My PC met ALL security requirements and everything on the list apart from my CPU supposedly being out of date. I have the 7th Gen 7700k and while I realise there has to be a cut off somewhere my CPU and mobo has all the security features of the later generations but especially my cpu was released in the same year as the 8th generation! I can't upgrade my CPU as it has 1 less pin so it will cost me a new motherboard and CPU, thanks ms. And then they have the nerve to allow some 7 th gen, aarrrgghh! I have been following some video's where the reports on win 11 have not been anything special and a lot of win 11 owners are getting their installation to look like win 10 which defeats the object doesn't it? Anyway, i'll wait now. There is 5 years left isn't there of win 10?
I am with those who commented on the UI changes. I am tired of MS making dumb and dumber changes to the interface. Desktop users do not need that cr.p. Only if Open Shell is fully compatible with W11 will I update and then only after the first major update. As for REG file fixes, when did you see Apple need that?
I could be wrong, but I don't believe that the patch would allow the update via WU, you would have to add the REG file & then use this manually (installation assistant): https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
Lately I play both TS2022 and TSW2 under Windows 11 and they both run perfectly. I have not noticed any differences with Windows 10 in terms of performance.
Thanks for the answer! What FPS performance does your platform provide? I bought a card, now I am purchasing a system and a monitor, and I don't know what to expect in 4K!
I run at 4k with Ultra settings at 100% screen size, plus a few tweaks to engine.ini, and my 2070 delivers ~40 fps, so your 3070 should be fine (I've a fairly old i7-4790K CPU). In general running at 4k will reduce fps to less than half what you'd get running in 2k.
I have experienced 5 crashes today when playing TSW. the computer totally freezes followed by the Blue screen of death. I have re-installed Windows 10
I haven't updated to Windows 11 because my laptop has an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H and I know there is a patch from AMD but I'm just not ready for it yet.
For Windows 11 is no update needed! Windows 11 more cosmetic changes... All programs will run without any further update needed.
AMD has officially admitted the existence of fTPM stutter issues - https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-acknowledges-ftpm-stuttering-issues-promises-a-bios-fix-in-may A fix is still some time away but at least now we know it´s coming. Keep an eye on BIOS updates around May-June period.
Bloody hell, Even though I have now win 11 I'm going to be updating my mobo and CPU. I was going to go for AMD as I read that Intel 12th gen has some issues with memory using four slots as opposed to just two. Not sure what to go for now.
I am on AMD and the game and games in general run fine since I upgraded to Windows 11. I do have a feeling sometimes that there is more stuttering than before but I haven't looked into it to be honest. I guess that if you haven't bought a new CPU yet then perhaps go for Intel, though to be fair Intel had theirs last year. DRM related issues causing some games to crash or not work at all. This has been fixed already. We are still transitioning so anything can happen still for both brands. I am happy overall with AMD and as soon as AM5 settles and fixes its release issues I will upgrade.
I'm running under Windows 11. No issues at all. If you're seeing stuttering mariussoare_84 check the Windows 11 game settings
Thank you paul.pavlinovich I am usually running on DX12 with various combinations of settings in the ini file to find one that gives best result for me. Currently I only use one for color/tone mapping, I don't remember exactly, and I use this in combination with nVidia DSR at 1.78x on ultrawide. Even before the update to Win 11 I couldn't find a combination that works for me. Now even if I look for one given the issue on AMD processors I won't know when or if I find the solution so I am waiting for the fix in order to put more effort into this. It's annoying but I can't do much about it. I will try your recommendation for sure.
I tried DSR when it came out and found it cause some issues for me in game so turned it off again. Maybe I will give it another go if its working better now.
The memory issue you speak of is when using DDR5 which is very very difficult to buy at the moment. I'm using the following Intel I9-12900K 3.2GHz 32GB DDR4 3200mhz Nvidea Geforce RTX 3070TI TSW installed on M.2 intel 1TB drive I have no issues with everything maxed out
Thanks. I was going to go for 64gb but decided to stick with 32, hopefully I can still use what I got.
I played this month more than I played the entire last year. I am in a mood of driving trains. I went back to using additional engine tweaks from geloxo´s post and I got pretty close to a config that makes the game as smooth as possible. I still see some micro lags and freezes but some can´t be eliminated as this is how Unreal works. The main issue was that the settings were a tad too aggressive for my PC. I disabled game mode but it was not affecting performance in a negative way, it was the tweaks that required fine tuning.
