Nice little teaser. I’m liking the train length, will we get any more branded containers in future.excited about this route

I also noticed big containers on top of small, is this prototypical in terms of them locking together?

I asked on the stream about the bigger containers on top of the smaller ones and Matt replied saying that they do indeed do that.

Stacking 52 ft container on top of 40 ft is done all the time here in North America. You will also see a 52 ft on top of 2 20 ft on the bottom. That length train would usually have its dpu in the train somewhere, usually at about the 1/3 point.

Yes, the stacking points are 40’ apart even on the longer containers, so they can stack either way.

Just wondering how much faffing about we will have to do to set up the loco's, DPU's etc. A right PITA on SPG and Clinchfield compared to Run 8 where you can, if you so choose, just push a handful of buttons in the menu to get everything configured.

On a totally unrelated note - what an awesome mix of power is this? BNSF followed by CSX and NS, not something you see everyday - at least not with that landscape.

As long as banking com is set up properly ( which has not always been the case in the past ), shouldn't be a problem.

Only issue that still isn't right, is that the trailing DPU does not have it's headlight on dim.

There is no way I’m walking the length of 100 wagons to fiddle with the controls in the rear locos and then walking back to drive the train. Banking Comm needs to sort all that out just by turning it on, and work flawlessly too. This is supposed to be fun not a job. Basically, that’s how it mainly works in SPG anyway on timetable services, as I have been at pains to point out on many occasions. It didn’t always work but I’ve always assumed it was a bug in those circumstances where it didn’t. Did Clinchfield ever get the Banking Comm? (Haven’t checked in a while). Swapping to the rear cameras on long trains tends to crash the game on console on SPG as well so that might need some attention as it’s definitely going to the loading screen for a train that long.

Yep, bugger walking 100 wagons. By the time you’ve done a return trip, it’ll be time to switch off the game.

I just hope they fix the crashing issue with long trains when using the external real camera and then returning to the internal one. Currently it just hangs at the loading screen that covers while it's supposed to load the cab back in and then the game crashes!

This happens to me on SPG with trains over about 40 cars in length. I have an open ticket bit nono mention of a fix yet.

Maybe it needs a teleport driver to cab function in addition to a teleport camera function. If it was a Rivet DLC they'd gladly add 20 mins running into a scenario to unlock the function on the map

Clinchfield doesn't have Banking Comm, and according to Matt, it won't be getting it either.

Clinchfield is another route that had great potential, but feels totally abandoned.

There already is one: Ctrl & = and Ctrl & - by default; and if you're on foot, Ctrl & 0 will TP you into I think the nearest cab of the train.

I think it's BNSF that uses ATVs for such things, so maybe they could put some of those there for us :D

Still think the easiest system is a pop up dialogue box, like Run 8. But fully agree it's no fun walking a mile long train in real time (and back again) so the route will be a bit of a non starter or relegated to a sale if they can't get some sort of shortcut in there.

We need a pickup. So we could use them in big yards to reach the other end of the train.

As far as I know, this does not work to teleport you if the engines are distributed on both ends of the train.

Also doesn't help console players who don't/can't hook up a keyboard.

There should be a controller shortcut. They've already added some functions using shift keys, so no reason "switch cab" can't be one of them.

Or, and this might be too futuristic, give us fully remappable controls and multiple control profiles. I'd love to have a different setup for freight vs passenger, or even based on braking type. Or however i want, frankly- as long as there's a "return to default" option, what's the harm?

It's also an accesibility issue, which many recent games have made big strides on, and I'd urge DTG to make it a higher priority.

It doesn’t work on consoles either, you can teleport to some places but not usually to where you need to go. I’ve also just thought about how many times you would get asked if you wanted to give up the service if you did have to walk 4 miles to set up your train and if that popped up just as you were opening a door to get back in your lead loco and it kicked you out because it defaults to yes… *shudders*. AI trains would set up in an instant as well, so all the route timings would be out. Playability might be an issue but we’ll have to see what’s implemented.

Yep, tell us what routes are coming and what trains are included, but don’t say anything more than that e.g. whether branches are included etc.

In the end, I think it would be great if the locos were set up correctly, to begin with apart from what you need to do in your own loco. If the in-game narrative is you're taking over from someone, the last loco 2 kilometres away should probably have the correct setting already. Or let us send the secondman do that, so they get some daily steps too :D

Rear locos are set up - just switch banking comm on, and go.

What about that rear headlight? The last loco should have a dimmed headlight on.

Matt, is it possible for the rear most loco to have the rear facing headlight set to dim, which is prototypical?

Wow now at least long trains. 100 Wagons. I know some train can have 200 wagons in Us. But now the train length is much closer the reality.
First in TSW1 it was 60 wagons the max vagons. But after a few month it was just 40 wagons. People complaining about the fps.
Then in TSW2 it was again 50-60 wagons. And now 100 wagons. Wow. Thanks Dovetail

Wow!!!! What an exiting teaser for Sherman hill, was hoping to see with PC and Series X and PS5 to get longer freight trains and the one shown certainly didn’t disappoint. Very VERY happy to see this! Can’t wait!!
