Here is the route proposal for Train Sim World. It would run from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL. The route is over 855 miles and I'd suggest 60 miles. The rolling stock for the original Auto Train would include the U36B, Baldwin S-12's, VO-1000s, and Alco S-2's, auto racks, steam generator cars, baggage cars, food service, sleeper cars, dome cars, and a caboose. It would be set in the 1970's-1980's-1990's-2000's-present day. The rolling stock of Amtrak's Auto Train would include P40's/P42's, Superliners, B32-8WH's, SW1000R's, and auto racks. It would also include both stations in Lorton and Sanford. The Lorton part of the route would extended north to Washington, DC and include the southern end of the NEC. South of Lorton, the route would run at least as far south as Richmond, VA, which is under 100 miles, and would include the City of Ashland, where the mainline runs right down the middle of town splitting Center Street, and the CSX yards of Richmond. Sanford Station on the southern end of the route would most likely be the southern end of the route, with the northern part of the route extending at least Jacksonville, FL, which is approximately 125 track miles, and can include the CSX yards located there as well.
Going by road, the Auto Train route is 811 miles, thanks Google, and a route THAT long is VERY unlikely, even in TS 20XX which has had some relatively long routes brought into it.
The longest route possible is about 60 miles. Yours is more than double. Quite boring, too as there are no intermediate stops etc. Not gonna happen, being frank.
I agree with the guy above. A route that is too long can be tiresome. Better to make it more varied and shorter. It will be much more enjoyable for the player.
Amtrak VRE CSX Auto Train North Washington d.c. to Richmond Virginia 110 mi 180 kms. New features are Amtrak superliner coaches followed by Autoracks reskinned From Sherman Hill and Sand Patch Grade attached to the back superliner coaches. This can then be replicated on European routes that require those Deutsche Bahn ÖBB Terminology for this is Autoreisezug while in the Netherlands Autoslaaptrein.
