Hi all. Just thought I'd post my suggestions of what I'd like to see in TSW 2. The route I'd like to see is the WCML Over Shap route, set in modern times. Route: Preston to Carlisle. Stations: 6: Preston, Lancaster, Carnforth, Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle Route mileage: 90 miles Typical journey time: Class 390 - 70 minutes Rolling stock opportunities: Avanti Class 390 Pendolino Avanti Class 221 Voyager TransPennine Class 397 EWS, DB, Freightliner, DRS Class 66 Freightliner Class 86 Freightliner Class 90 DRS Class 68 DRS Class 88 (Obviously all of the above won't be included, however it shows there is a lot of variety of rolling stock for the route) *The mileage might be a bit daunting at first, but remember its the amount of stations and big populations of towns and cities which require modelling, which takes the most amount of time. This route has relatively few, with only two major stations at each end. The majority of the route looks like as seen in the pictures below. Pictures:
Probably pushing it with the route length but both the Morecambe and Windermere branches could be added for extra variety, although that may also require something like a sprinter to go with. Another good route in the neighbouring area could be the Furness Line from Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness, which is around 40 miles with some equally stunning scenery.
Having a Class 390 and a Class 86 would make me very happy, and this section of WCML has good scenery. The Class 86 in particular would be so satisfying to drive.
This or the Trent Valley would be the route I want the most. Although personally I’d rather it set in the past with 87s and 90s, any era would be great
I would love to have this route. However, even though it would be cool to have another present day route, I would love to have it set in the 1980s because we (the player) have the chance of getting the legendary APT-P..
I suggested this route too, but in 80's, so stock would be: Class 370 APT-P Class 86 Class 87 (as DLC) and layers from: NTP (Class 47, Class 45, Class 101, Class 40 and Class 08) TVL (Class 37/5, Class 08, Class 20, Class 31 and Class 101 [btw it has Carlisle as one of destinations]) WCL (Class 37/5 [headcode]) And maybe GWE Diesel Legends (Class 101 and Class 08), also East Coastway (for JNA's i think?[idk if JNA's existed during these times])
Completely agree, although my preference would be intercity swallow era with classes 86,87,90, HST on passenger and 37, 47 and 60 all appropriate freight traction. I grew up near oxenholme and was a regular spotting these trains
Excellent idea and this will bring in a British Tap Changer locomotive Class 86 alongside the Apt class 370 if set in the 1980s late 1970s. Here's Jaime playing the APT Class 370 during Workshop Wednesday stream. Present Day special livery trains are 390 119 pride and 390 042 Safe Travels on the side
