2021_0427_11012700.jpg My latest 3 1\2 inch gauge locomotive. Based on a Bagnall 2 foot gauge locomotive, the kind of thing used in quarries and industry it's about 20" long and weighs about 50 pounds. It burns coal and is capable of pulling several people. I'm looking forward to steam coming to TSW but it's going to have to be good to beat playing with this.

Wow what a nice looking engine. Given recent events I hope you have it well secured and insured.

Indeed yes, it's insured and well hidden. Insurance wouldn't be much consolation really after spending years building the thing. You'd never get back what it's worth in terms of time spent in the workshop.

Why not make NTP out of Hornby Trains OO Scale just need Class 47 45 40 Class 08 and the 101 DMU. Marklin is required for Main Spessart Bahn Rhein-Ruhr Osten Riesa-Dresden Ruhr Sieg Nord Haputstrecke München Augsburg and HRR

Here are my flagship models. I bought the cases from a from a Japanese discount store we have in Australia called Daiso, for 15 AUD. The models are from the Austrian manufacturer ROCO.

I'm envious. Having recently moved, my train stuff (Hornby & Bachmann OO Gauge) is packed away.

Excellent and if you want to Model Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen Rhein-Ruhr Osten Ruhr-Sieg Nord Hamburg-Lübeck Main Spessart Bahn Aschaffenburg-Gemünden you should probably get Märklin Group makes N scale under Minitrix brand. They have a DB BR182 Dresden S-Bahn

I didn’t spot that Nick :), it’s my fault for sitting here with a coffee and thinking “ah I know where I’ll share that” without looking. I might take a trip north to see it.

It's probably worth it. It's set around the time of NTP in TSW so probably good to see how well DTG made that section.

What you saw was an add on to a small 6x4 family layout. It is a one track ovel with dc and dcc. Right hight for small children and the layout is about 7 years old. (Used to be just mine when I was younger around 11). Yes it is in a garage, but I run two comuters, a through freight, local freight, out/inbound freight, switching service, and one or two through passenger trains. In total takes up a whole day of operation (about 6-12 hours)

i belong to the carqinez model railroad society and they have a fantastic layout-here's a few shots I've taken over the last couple of years. 20200101_114204.jpg 20200202_114820.jpg 20200808_151736.jpg 20210214_183457.jpg

It's an expensive hobby overall; for Christmas I got a Scaletrains SD45 that was $300! Also in highschool rn, every little bit I make goes into trains

Conrail C39-8 6007 waits with a mixed freight for a intermodal train to pass before continuing image.jpg
With 3 dash 8s in charge, (B40-8s #5076 and #5058, and C40-8W #6052), The intermodal train passes by #6007 and its train.
    image.jpg
While the layout is small it still is quiet fun to run the trains on it. I have quiet a bit of Conrail power as it's my favorite railroad. The ScaleTrains C39-8 was a Christmas gift this year and it runs quiet will. Although I was surprised to learn that it was DCC and not DC (like all my engines are). So it looks like it might be time to upgrade everything to DCC.

An HO 50' Thrall coalporter I designed and 3d printed. Still need to paint and decal; trucks and coupler boxes have been added but I don't have a photo of them.

If anyone is interested, check out the #TwitterModelTrainShow 2022 on the 19th February, it's the third year, organised by @CottonTreeRail in Australia and some are Train Sim World players. It's all for a good cause and available on Twitter. Some people have some fantastic layouts.

Forgot about this, not sure if it counts as a actual model railroad but
technically it is a model of a train. CAD done by me, designed so I could teach some younger kids how steam engines work. Some parts fell off during printing but overall it got the job done. 112 inside 1.png

Anyone think the recent price increases by Hornby are too much?

I don't have route for a layout but I am doing a large cabinet display featuring oo gauge Trains that mean something to me. I wonder if anyone has advice for cutting those Hornby station platforms? I don't have a band saw but I need 30mm of platform (long edge) along the back edge of my cabinet 90cm wide approx.

Apparently Hornby had a 20% increase late last year and now have announced another 20% increase, and then you have a Bachmann 3 car set of the class 117 going for £404 (oo gauge) Clown World no?

Yeah all trains are getting expensive. Best place to get em cheap is at shows, at one last December I got a custom painted, weathered, super detailed DCC ready engine for $50, when for the same model with DCC sound straight from the factory(albeit newer) would of been $250.

I recently received a Bachman ez track crossing for the family layout on my 18th birthday. One of it's problems is that the gates don't go down at the same time. Does anyone know how to fix that problem?

Does anyone know if Bachman's smoke fluid "no 1725" would work for Broadway Limited Imports' smoke units?

    The prices are beyond ridiculous...
I've got to buy a couple of 3' x 2' boards to use as weight spreaders while I repair the conservatory roof. Though afterwards I could join them and set up a nice little 6 x 2 N Gauge layout.
Popped over to Cheltenham Model Centre web site and nearly fell off my chair at the price of some of the items...
    A Class 04 Shunter - £110.
    A Class 47 - £124.
    A Dapol West Country Pacific - £176.
Coaching stock between £35 and £40 each for a Mark One or Mark Two coach.
Would cost in the region of £350 to place one 5 coach loco hauled train on the layout.

Perhaps I'm misty eyed but I can still recall popping into Beatties or one of the other London model shops when I worked in London many years ago. You could buy a Hornby or Lima loco for under £20 and a coach was around £4.

Crazy prices, will stick with virtual railways and the bridging boards can go back in the garage!

I suspect that especially during lockdown model trains got real popular and these greedy firms are cashing in on it, imo it will put people off starting one and the people that will suffer the most are the ones with existing layouts.

The annoying thing is I had a fair bit of OO equipment sat in the loft in boxes at one point, but sold it all on Ebay several years ago.

Well if it makes you feel better. A brand new steam road engine, is at least half a grand in USDs.

It's definitely worth looking around for what smaller manufacturers have to offer and of course searching for good deals from the retailers

That's why I wait until a train show comes. Usually you can get something from 50 percent off the original price.
