Almost immediately after releasing the fact that, you've spent upwards of 50 minutes on a long service. I walk outside, look up to the sky and realize... Knowing all too well, saving won't help in majority of cases because it can easily break the AI.
I hate it on console but the PC version has a restart from checkpoint button, so you resume from the previous station. Unlike saving, this function actually works
Once ran a Dante to Elkhorn City service on Clinchfield and at the end, after about two hours, inched passed a small red sign which was hidden by the stop marker... Haven't touched the route since.
I blame the “Go Via” for my red light at the end of a 50 minute ish Cornwall mainline stopper class 150 I figured it would change when I hit the point like other one it didn’t
I overcooked it heading into London Victoria in my 387, yeah not going to stop in time here! Buffers walloped
Bruh. I ran the Sand Patch Grade all day on ONE SERVICE AND went literally less than an inch past the final signal and failed the whole thing.
Been there done that, can feel your pain frustrating you have a great run and it gets messed up by a stop.
I had the same thing happen on clinchfield. The dynamic brakes blew the engine on a 3% grade. The emergency did nothing so I had to do a full restart and stop before a red signal.
Maybe when you SPAD, instead of ending the service, you should complete it with no medal and no AP. Though I’m not sure if that’s better than getting a game over as it results in the same thing (although I think you keep your AP in a SPAD).
I think you are on the right track instead of ending the run, it should give a complete with no medal and maybe a deduction in points for not stopping before the signal. But at least you would still be able to keep your AP.
